How long ago was you last round?  How much do you remember about it?

Do you remember (from memory not looking it up somewhere) what you shot?

How many shots do you remember from the round?  Would you be able to recreate your score card from memory?

Do you remember what you were working on for the round, or what your swing thought was?  - this might only apply to me, but I always try to work on one thing and good or bad, I will work on that one thing for the entire round...

Can you remember pin placements?  If so, how many?

Can you remember the people you played with (this assumes you played with people you had never previously met, if you were playing with a family member and forgot than I suspect you log off the computer and go seek medical help)

I played yesterday, I can remember what I shot for the round, I remember which holes I got birdie or better, and double or worse on (the rest were par or bogey with most being bogey)  I remember which part of my game was the most trouble some (putting).  I can also remember the people that I interacted with on the course.  My playing partner was a retired gentlemen named Vlad who grew up in the Soviet Union, and escaped prior to the fall of the Berlin wall.

I don't know if I could reproduce my score card from memory straight through.  I could Sudoku figure it out (fill in the holes that I remember and then fill in the rest) but I couldn't put a score from 1-14 (that is how many holes I played yesterday) and expect it to add up to what I shot.

For the double bogey's that I had, I know what I did wrong that netted me a double, but for the single bogey's, I can't remember which shot it was that caused me to miss par.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

Unless I am playing in a competition and required to keep a score card I never write down a score, or keep track of it while I'm playing.

After the round I go through the holes in my mind and count the birdies or bogeys and know what I shot.

My last round was Saturday and yes I remember every stroke (unfortunately some of them that I would just as soon forget).

Edit: That's on a course I play all the time and know each hole very well. When I go to a new course it's harder for me to replay the round in my mind without missing or mixing up some holes.

> How long ago was you last round? How much do you remember about it? I played nine holes yesterday. I remember the parts that hurt the most. I really started out to go to the range and work on my driver swing which I have gotten all out of whack recently. Range was closed and course was cart path only because of a lot of rain the last few days. I should have gone elsewhere but got lazy and decided to go ahead and practice on the course. One of these days I hope to learn to hit the ball near the path on days like that... > Do you remember (from memory not looking it up somewhere) what you shot? Yup, I sucked spending seven of the nine playing catch up because of the driver. >How many shots do you remember from the round? Would you be able to recreate your score card from memory? I recall a number of specific shots (like those drives) but I couldn't recreate the card. > Do you remember what you were working on for the round, or what your swing thought was? - this might only apply to me, but I always try to work on one thing and good or bad, I will work on that one thing for the entire round... As stated, I was fooling around with my driver swing. Still needs work on the range. Most of my swing thoughts were profane. > Can you remember pin placements? If so, how many? I recall the pin placement on the par threes. That's about it. > Can you remember the people you played with (this assumes you played with people you had never previously met, if you were playing with a family member and forgot than I suspect you log off the computer and go seek medical help) I played solo, so this one is easy.

If I sit down and go back over the round of the previous week, I will remember each shot. Including the bad ones... And yes, I could recreate the scorecard from memory. Once I play again, that info might be lost, but not always.

For the most recent round I've played, and probably the most recent 2 or 3, I can sit down and picture every shot I hit. I can then use that to recreate a scorecard and find what I shot, but otherwise I won't remember the specific numbers unless they were something important.

I would probably answer "yes" to most, but not in detail.  I usually remember the good shots or ones that really felt good. I remember the scores, I would not remember a stroke by stroke accounting.  I would remember certain swing thoughts although I do not usually play with any particular thing in mind as I save that for specific practice. I occasionally suffer from nostalgia and remember successes from decades ago and come to the realization that it was "in fact" decades ago.  My golf swing has completely changed since the early "flying right elbow" days. Somewhere along the line, it morphed into a flatter elbow stuck to the body (or nearly so). My distance has not suffered too much though, I would guess from 260 to around 220-240 now.

I've played 20 rounds this year and I think I remember most of that stuff for about a week. Less, if I play the same course twice within a week. Easier to just remember the last at each course. Each week, I then forget about half of the round! The golf-memory half-life for other fellow nuclear engineers. I've played 5 different courses anywhere from 3-5 times each...I find I have trouble remembering the greens and bunkers around each green. Can anyone else remember the terrain on the green for their last round- such that next time they might know the best spot to leave a ball for the best putt. Of course, in not good enough to use that info yet, but it bothers me I can't remember how each green is sloped after playing each green 3 times minimum this year.

My golf memory is pretty good, I would say.  My last round was Sunday, and although I'd pay money to forget the entire thing, I remember every shot quite well.  My previous round was a week ago, and I can pretty much remember all of those shots as well.  Prior to that, it's a bit hit or miss.  My really good rounds (specifically one on July 21 at a new course, and on June 10 at a new course) I still remember for quite some time.  Even that June round, I can remember several of the shots exactly, and at least the score for each hole.  The July 21 round is still very vivid.

However, rounds on courses I play more often are harder to keep track of and they get jumbled together in my head.

I can remember every shot from my last round. It gets a bit more foggy after that.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
