A huge difference between the Ross/Fontes/Marriucci/Marinelli/Morninwieg (sp?)/etc days is they now have a good GM, and thus a talented team. What they unfortunately don't have, is any clock or game managemt, or discipline, both of which directly relate to coaching. Also, while he isn't the offensive coordinator, he ultimately is responsible and 727 pass attempts makes for a very one dimensional offense. Pretty similar to the Chargers under Norv in my mind, a lot of talent being wasted by poor coaching.

Good lord! Chance to go up two scores in the 4th quarter? Sounds like a perfect time for a fake FG!

At least the Jets won, based on yesterday it appears  Geno Smith > EJ Manuel

Sorry! Couldn't resist!

Before the game Marrone told EJ to let it fly.  I think he had been playing too conservative up until yesterday.  Some of his deep balls didn't look too good, but I'll chalk it up to the strong winds.

Watching Geno Smith play reminds me a lot of watching AJ Burnett pitch (when he was on the Yankees).  From one day to the next, you have no idea if you're going to good Geno or bad Geno.

Actually, Geno and the Jets have been the most predictable team in the league. They won last week, so we knew they were gonna lose this week. Just like we know they're gonna win next week...

Only team to alternate wins and losses in the first 10 games of the season. lol

 it's okay, have to take the bad with the good.

Fortunately I was out golfing for most of the game so I didn't see Geno doing his best impersonation of Mark Sanchez.  I picked up the Bills on my fantasy team because I had a feeling the ugly Jets and Geno were going to show up, they scored 26 points for me.

These Lions games are getting painful to watch. Almost makes me wish for the days of old when I went into every game expecting them to lose.

Almost...

Cows take Giants.

Satisfying win … at the buzzer.

Romo keeps the ball for last 4:55. Nice.

Although the Cows are merely an average team.

Romo is actually a great QB although his playoff record would say otherwise. I just think their whole issue is Jerry Jones and his hands on approach. He needs to stay out of he way IMO for the Cows to have any future success. Go Hawks!!!!

Is RG III a shot player already? Or is Shanahan just an idiot and exposing him unecessarily?

He's certainly regressed.  Its not just that he can't run, he was a terrific passer last year.  I don't know if its the injury or the coach or what.  Hopefully with a full year off he can get back to where he was.

He (RGIII) is only in his second year -- it's typical for a guy to regress after one year, plus he is coming off a severe injury.

Let's see what he does to rehab more during the offseason and develop his skills.

I also don't think he was fully healthy in Week 1 and rushed back from his injury. He didn't play as explosive as he did but I think he was just trying to be conservative, which really isn't his game.

Ryan

I agree with you 100%. I think he rushed back to be ready for week 1. A guy like that who depends on his legs quite a bit has to be fully healthy to be effective. I read this week that he's pressing also becasue he knows that Kirk Cousins is looking over his shoulder. He knows Cousins is no scrub.

RG III obviously has a deteriorating relationship with his coaches, particularly the Shanahans.

I read a piece out of Washington yesterday and I see that some are starting to refer to him as RG 3 and 8.

    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.
