Do you use a password manager - like Lastpass, 1Password, Dashlane? A pen & paper solution? Your own DIY solution?

I use one of the above and sync among multiple smartphones, tablets and computers, nothing stored in the cloud, 100+ passwords (including other family members.) I ask my friends out of curiosity and some of them say - I just use e-mail? Huh? They meant use the forget password link and e-mail to set new one.

After national fix your family's computer week, it's a immensely useful way to keep track of so many passwords.

One password for everything work related.

One password for regular stuff.

One password for porn.

One password for banking stuff.

So, total of 4 password, fairly easy to keep track off. It would be different if I had lots of different passwords but f**k it, I'll take my chances.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

I use 1Password. It's great.

Apple's built-in iCloud Keychain is pretty sweet too. The combination of both is where it's at.

I use 1Password too. I plan to try Apple's version, but have yet to get to it. I'm a tad hesitant because password is stored with Apple. I know it's encrypted, but still.

Apple can't recover your password. The worst thing would be someone physically obtaining your computer… but then again, that's ALWAYS the worst thing.

My 1Password file synchronizes via Dropbox. And Apple ain't Google…

I basically use 3 different passwords.  I made a list and saved it to documents with all my various accounts usernames and passwords.

I have a couple of accounts that require me to change passwords frequently and this way I can keep track of them....

I am old and I forget them...

I have too many passwords, but somehow I manage.. when I get stuck I just end up trying a whole lot of them.. sometimes I just can't get it so I end up resetting the password.. usually it is always my same email account so as long as I remember my email password then I can always reset anything.. I know, not very efficient, but it works.. I'm thankful that I'm a little bit more organized at work... :)

Get a password manager like 1Password. It's more secure than relying on having only a few passwords and constantly re-setting them.

I just get used to getting locked out of my accounts for too many bad tries.

It was easy in the old days when I could use the same password for everything.

Now we need to use caps, numbers, symbols, change them every 90 days and not use something we used in the past year.

The main reason I stay with an android phone - i can never remember my i-tunes password for my i-pod.

I use lastpass.

I've considered the approach sooper uses, but it gets screwed up when you have some sites requiring special characters and others not allowing them.  And the sites that make you change it ever couple of months.

Just write them all down.

A hacker is more likely to nick them from your computer (if you click 'please remember') than a burglar is to steal a sheet of paper in your bedside drawer.

I usually clear everything, history, cookies, cache, etc... once a week or two and never save passwords with sites that have my credit card or bank accounts info. And email too. Especially on a laptop. It's a hassle, but password managers make this easier.

Off topic - Password managers make passwords that are harder to crack. My minimum length is 13 with symbols, numbers, lower and upper case.

How's a hacker going to get your computer?

And even they somehow got my computer, they'd have to know my master password to get into my computer and then another one to get to my passwords. Never mind that I can lock them out and wipe my computer remotely.

Plus what do you do when you're out, with your phone or something? Do you carry the pieces of paper around with you? Because those would be easy to steal, too, and then they wouldn't even need to get your computer.

    • Day 135: worked on putting bead for a while with the 2 cups drill.
    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
    • Day 60 - 2024-11-29 Got about 3.5' of snow today, so I was going to go to Golf Evolution, but… I only left the house to throw some snow. Instead, i checked out my putting stroke on HackMotion in the basement. Turns out… it's pretty good, and I'm very in touch with what I'm doing.

After 4 worlds I run out of worlds that have the letters I've already found that can be combined with the remaining letters.. just repeated the 4th world to knew the answer. I know the world but it never came to my mind.
