Then, when you hover over any of the marked shots it would have information about what you went on to do from that position, on that day. you could have (10/2/15. 4) in green for a tee shot that ended in a par 4, (10/2/15. 5) in yellow for a bogey, (10/2/15. 6) in amber for a double bogey etc, so that i could see where I've gone on to get the best results from.

This would be AMAZING.  I play the same course a lot; I'd love to see this.

I've used my system for 3 rounds so far, and two more (hopefully 3) coming up very soon.  So I might be overreacting to a trend in my last two rounds when looking at stats.

But a quick question:  if I play a par-3 course, do I use this?  Will it play havoc with the insights I'm trying to gain?

Use it. The system knows what par is.

I'm thinking about getting this, but I have a few questions...

1) How long did it take to get used to tapping every shot on the course?

2) How easy is it to edit your round?  If you forget to tap a shot, is it smart enough to know you didn't drive the green on a 400 yard par 4 and alert you in some way?

3) Do you usually tap before or after you take your shot, and why?

Thanks for any insight!

1. It depends on the person, some people adapt to changes in routine quickly, others not so much. Either way it shouldn't take more than a few rounds to really get used to it.

2. Editing the round is really easy. If you forget to tag your shot I think the belt unit does notice that you swung, though I'm not 100% sure because I use the phone app. Adding Tee shots is probably the easiest shot to add though.

3. Most people tag before the shot because they use it a part of their preshot routine. Also, it's easier to remember to do it before the shot than after in my opinion.

Thanks for any insight!

1) It took me 2 rounds to make it an unconscious part of my routine

2) It's very easy.  The editing only takes me about 3-5 minutes on a computer that cooperates.

3) It's part of my pre-shot routine, but if I think I may have missed a tag, I will tag again after the shot.  I "think" I miss far more tags than I actually do--except I almost always forget to tag from a bunker.

1) As others have posted, just 2-3 rounds, and it's part of the routine.

3) (Skipped 2 for a moment). I tap after I take my shot. Not sure why.

Thanks for the info.  Its what i hoped and expected to hear.  I'm the kind of guy who loves to use technology to enhance anything I do.  And now that I'm taking golf more seriously, I'm looking to find different technologies to help me.   But the key to using any new tech, is to make sure it only enhances the experience as opposed to adding additional overhead or having to go way out of your way to incorporate it.   Game Golf Live appears to be almost perfect in that regard.

And @Missouri Swede, thanks for that link to the other thread.  Lot's of good information about other users' experience in there.  Much appreciated!

Okay, so yesterday's round recording stopped after my second shot at hole #9.  I started adding the rest this morning, and I'll finish that later.

Today's round, same course, stops after hole #8.  I have used it for a full round at this course before (and two others), so I'm not sure what's going on.  The unit is fully powered before I leave -- I plug it in and leave it until it's got a green light, then I unplug it, put it in the nice silver carrying case, and put that in my bag.

Is there some common thing that can cause an interruption and stoppage?  I didn't check my phone at all during either round -- I left it in my bag, with the game golf on my hip the whole time.

Also, my phone drops over half its remaining battery when I use this -- is there a way to do this WITHOUT my phone?  Does it have a GPS within it or something, or does it need the blue tooth and GPS connection from my phone?

Lastly, if I have to use my phone, is there a maximum distance?  Should I just keep my phone in my pocket instead of in my bag?  I hate having things in my pockets when I play, but I think the information from this would be worth it.

You don't need to use your phone at all with it. You can just sync it with a computer.

Also, they suggest you use the app lock screen and put it face down so the proximity sensor turns the screen off. If you want to use the app.

Thanks!  I'll try it tomorrow without the app, just as is.  Press on, tag during the round, sync afterward.  Unless I missed the cut today (don't know yet), in which case, substitute "my next round" for "tomorrow."

I bought the classic system new in the box for $50 today. Feel like I got a good deal.

Yep, $50 is about all this system is worth.

Accuracy limitations (inherent to current GPS, not the fault of Game Golf).

Software inadequacies entirely the fault of Game Golf due to both the lack of Game Golf failure to recognize the limitations of GPS and the desires of golfers for truly accurate data, hardware failure due to Game Golf not recognizing the stresses involved in mounting sensors on the butt of the grip.

Amounts to a reasonably usable gimmick device, useful if one accepts the limitations, but nowhere near a device that is fully developed delivering accurate, easy to use, and dependable data.

Much like the majority of golf aids! :content:

A few thoughts:

* I'm not sure how I feel about including stats for a round where I entered more than half the holes manually.  It feels like I'm going based on recollection not accuracy.

* The system doesn't like it -- it seems -- when we use alternate greens.  Just entered #16 for today's round, and it insists my putt for par was from off the green, when in fact we were on a different green (holes 16 and 17 at my course have two different greens that can be used).

I disagree. GPS has limitations, but two minutes editing your round clears that.

Email them. They can fix that. I had one of those in my Barefoot courses.

Used it for two rounds now. I keep my putting distances manually so I can adjust the flag position better.

I find the stokes gained stats more useful than the ones I get from golfshake, particularly FIR, GIR etc. GG takes into account how much you miss by so you just miss a fairway, it can still show up in your strokes gained, as opposed to just being a miss. Really handy to know where your misses are at the approach distances as well.  Find it a breeze to use and enjoy the output.

    • Day (2 May 24) - somehow I missed posting both Tues and Weds practice sessions - so the streak ends and a new one begins…. Focus today was on ball first contact using the Divot Board for reference.   Worked with 7i, 9i and GW hitting hard foam balls.  Started hap hazardly and then settled back into my pre-shot setup.  Much more consistent in the latter.
    • So, Newey is out at Red Bull. Where does he go in a year? Is Max still with RBR in 2026? Hmmmm.
    • August 2010 Woodfin Ridge 18th hole Playing in a large tournament with a slew of friends and the last day was two man best ball. The 18th, when it was bent grass, was very fast due to a steep slope on the right side. I had seen many people over the years putt off the green from above the hole. I hit a great drive and 3W to 30’ left of the hole. With everyone watching my partner hit it way too fast and never high enough and his ball rolled all the way to the bottom of the green.  I hit mine much higher and the ball came to rest about 20” above the hole. Then it slowly started trickling towards the hole for a walkoff eagle! Nobody said anything except my partner who was yelling pretty loudly. I looked at the crowd and told them it was okay to clap because it was a great putt, and they gave me a bunch of polite golf claps and brought me a beer!
    • Day 127: 5/2/24 Stack Full Speed spectrum training session 6/24. Training speed was 5 mph higher than previous high, as was e-speed. Still not as high as I have done in previous programs, but just 1 mph lower. Battling through a neck issue, and possible trigger fingers. Happy with results.
    • Day 49. Played 9 from tees a bit beyond my comfort zone and was humbled. Hit a couple good shots so will take that at least.
