The matches are set.

Who do you like first round? They all look tough to me. I'm going with Detroit ( :8) ), Montreal, Pittsburgh, Rangers, Colorado, Chicago, Anaheim, and LA.

I like your picks (especially Montreal :-D ) but that Detroit prediction is mighty bold, but I LIKE IT! Bruins "one and done" would be awesome, except for the fact that it would rob Montreal of the pleasure of knocking them out in the second round!

It is bold, but I figure there has to be some upsets in the first round. The season series is 3-1 Detroit. They were the only team in the NHL to beat the Bruins 3 times this year. Detroit has some players that always ramp it up when the playoffs start - Franzen and Datsyuk are two examples. Having said that, if Detroit doesn't win the first game, I think the series is over. Boston is too physically tough to play a long series with.

Playoffs are about depth and gold-tending, and in those two areas Boston has a HUGE advantage. I see this as Bruins in 5. Honestly, nobody in the East scares me as a Bruins fan. Pittsburgh is a paper tiger and faded down the stretch. I think it will be a fairly big surprise not to have the Bruins in the Finals. And they should be favored when they get there. They can run 3 lines out there that can play with most teams' top lines.

Umm...actually Montreal took the season series 3-1 as well. :-D

Well damn! My mistake.

So Boston is screwed even if they beat Detroit!

Yeah, pretty much. Montreal is so deep into Boston's collective heads that we can smell Chara's brain farts before they happen.

I think it's going to take a while to get used to seeing Detroit in the East. Seeing the bracket with them facing Boston just seems...off. 82 game season be damned.

I would have preferred that the Flyers play the Penguins instead of the Rangers. The Flyers have the Pens number and Lundgvist gets stupid hot sometimes and just shuts teams down. I hate hot goalies, primarily because they never seem to play for the Flyers.

As a long time Red Wing fan, I don't believe the team has played together in sync with all of the injuries to the team.   A few players have stepped up but as was previously mentioned, during the playoffs, its about team depth and goal tending.    Detroit although they have beaten Boston 3 - 1 this year doesn't like to play physical.    I don't see them winning 2 games.

I like Boston to win it all, although the Kings could surprise me.

Surprised everyone is picking Chicago. For most of the season I would Say St. Louis was the best team in the league with Boston. Granted they have not played well in the last week or so but they were my Pick in the west for awhile now..... Also disappointed no love for the State of Hockey. Go Wild! Colorado has been red hot but I think MN has more depth especially because COL is without Duchene. My picks are: BOS, MON, PIT, and PHI in the east. SJ, ANA, STL, and MIN in the west. Boston and St. Louis for the cup.

St. Louis has been on a crappy run lately. Lost their last 6 games, and they're not in the best shape physically with key players injured late in the season. I can see the Wild upsetting Colorado though.

Yeah they have been bad lately with a few injuries to boot. Isn't Chicago without Kane and Toews right now, or are they gonna be back for game 1? I just feel that CHI is a little overrated this year. They really haven't been firing on all cylinders IMO, and I have seen STL play some dominating hockey for the first 70 games or so. We will see the Blues slump could continue and Chicago has the experience, so anything could happen. I just love playoff hockey. Go Wild!

Kane and Toews are both playing; Chicago has no injuries. Great start to the playoffs yesterday. The Montreal vs. Tampa game was intense. Looking forward to tonight's games. They all look like a coin flip to me.

I'm such a lame ass, I fell asleep in the third period with MTL and TB tied 3 all. Happy the Habs won but, Damn Carey, .750 sv% ain't gonna get it done on most nights!!!

Yeah, it sure didn't take long for that series to turn into real playoff hockey eh? That's good news for MTL, they always play better when there's a little bit of hatred going on.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
