Els 3 putt. Ouch.

https://vine.co/v/M

I simply can't understand how he could do this after winning this tournament only 2 years ago, the silly backhand was a longer putt to begin with, if Tiger wants to be there sunday he is going to need the driver to be straight, he is -2 on the par 3's and 5's each but +1 on the par 4's.

Predictions for tomorrow? Lead at the end of Friday? Cut? Tiger's score? Rory's?

Conditions likely to be a little bit less friendly on Friday. I'm thinking neither Woods nor McIlroy break par, and that a whole heap of players finish within one or two shots of the lead. Leader? Scott, -6. Watch Westwood, though. He looked capable of going on a run of birdies yesterday, and he's an early starter. His putter will stop him being in contention on Sunday, of course - as usual.

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

Just heard them say that the wind would calm as the day goes on. That'll help the later times, like Tiger and Rory....

They just said the somewhat normal local rule allowing relief for an embedded ball through the green is not in effect this week.....

Just downloaded the iOS Open app and there are some cool features. The course map when you click on the hole displays the group and individual scores. There's a line that tells you how to walk the whole course front to back. There's a direct link that opens the WatchEspn app.

ESPN, the Open website. Or not on the up and up, front row sports.

I've been pretty pleased with ESPN thus far. Cant figure out who all the announcers are however. SVP, Alliss, Tirico, Dotty Pepper? and who is the other guy Curtis Strange?

Never been a SVP fan from an Sportscenter standpoint. I think he's real arrogant and needs to grow out up the frat bro attitude, but he does a tremendous job announcing golf.

I'm slightly annoyed that all I seem to catch is the commentary and no playing.

Sergio is looking a bit chunky this week.

Not his usual svelte self.

Oh, looks as if wind picked up. If this continues, it could be a disaster for the PM groups.

I think they're rotating lots of people in and out to keep them fresh. I hear Paul Azinger in there now too. Andy North was there later yesterday. Judy Rankin is out on the course, I thought, but maybe that was Dottie. Sean McDonough was in the booth earlier. Paul and Curtis have similar voices to me. Always takes me a sec to distinguish them. Today so far, they have covered just a couple big name groups almost exclusively: Mickelson/Watson/Els and Scott/Rose/Dufner. I don't think they've really mentioned or shown Gary Woodland or DA Points who both shot -3 in tough conditions. Overall good stuff though.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
