Patriot fans recall when the Raiders got to and won the Superbowl on a ridiculous roughing the passer call in 1976.  So the "tuck" game was poetic justice.  It was one of those calls the NFL apologized for after the game that it shouldn't have been penalized.  It was on 4th down and the Patriots would have won the game.

Meh, bad calls happen all the time that change the outcome of a game. It's rare that they make up a new rule in the middle of a game to push one team through. :-P

No, but they often selectively call (or not) penalties. It's actually pretty disgusting to watch.

They did.  The actual rule was if the ball was tipped by a player, then the quarterback could be hit.  Ray Hamilton came in and leaped very high and tipped the pass.  He came down and landed on Stabler and not that hard either.  The ref in question decided to change the rule saying that Hamilton should not have landed on the QB (like he could change direction while airborne).  In today' game, this wouldn't have been a penalty either.  The ref was banned from officiating Pats games after that.

So Erik, Will you still think that the Steelers will need a new HC, OC, DC, GM, QB Coach, ST coach, Trainer, Waterboy, Doctor, Guy in charge of landscaping, chalk line supervisor, Tractor Driver, Electrician, Scoreboard Operator, Carpenter, Chaplain, Janitor, Ticket Vendor, Chef in charge of Concessions, Window Washer, etc... if the Steelers win this week and clinch a playoff berth, or should I ask you again in January?

For starters, the Steelers are something like 1-11 against teams with a winning percentage of .200 or lower on the road.

The list goes on from there.

I've always thought of Tomlin as a good coach, no-nonsense. I guess cuz of the early success he had. Are you saying he took Cowher-built teams to the playoffs and SB early and now that this is "his" team, he's failing?

Win or lose tonight, they need to win next week to take the AFCN. I had high hopes until they moved the game to SNF. We're DOOMED I tell ya.
