I am 2 years into the wedges and appreciating them more all the time as I improve the swing and technique.

Good luck.

(I am going in front the finance committee tomorrow to ask(beg) for the funding, and need to be prepare ... )

I read this out loud to my wife. She laughed and said she thought that was so funny. :-)

Then looked at me and said "NO!" :-\

I know this is bit :offtopic: but .... Remember your not landing a f18 on a aircraft carrier ... rather landing the space shuttle and need a long run way ... go do the "honey do" list and ask is there anything else ... then work into the conversation about "maybe" getting a new putter and they have this great "deal" where you get a $100'ish fitting for free! Short direct approaches never have worked for me. Of course for me, having wife 3.0 has helped ... I made sure the "golf OK" was checked Thanks again to everyones feedback Will update when I get fitted. Believe me I need serious help in the putting area

Just wanted to provide some information for anyone in NC, so I hope this is a good thread for that.

I originally tried to get fit by David Orr as he is listed on the Edel website, but he no longer does fittings. So, the only option was the newish Golf Galaxy in Cary.

I was a bit wary of going to a GG as the ones I have normally been to are fairly small and I wasn't that impressed. This new one, however, is huge by comparison and they have three pros that are certified to do the fitting. Kyle Anderson did mine and he was superb. I had read Erik's suggestions for a fitting and he did everything that was possible given that there was not the potential for taking putts outside.

Although when I called I was told 20-30 minutes for the fitting, which made me fear it would not be as comprehensive as it should have been, Kyle spent over 1.5 hours with me and by the end I had a putter in my hands that felt like it was part of my arm. There is no question I will have to get some practice in to make things more automatic, but after hitting it and then going back to my Scotty, I could feel how I had to hold off the release with the old putter. When we did the distance fitting, Kyle watched me more than the string and noted he was trying to get all of my body mechanics to match. He had to do a lot of manipulating of the amount and position of the weights beneath my hands but eventually we got it.

Very excited to pick up the putter in a few weeks, but as far as the fitting goes, I highly recommend Kyle and the Golf Galaxy in Cary to anyone within the Triangle or reasonable driving distance.

I am scheduled for this Saturday to get a fitting. Apparently I am lucky that I have two fitters in my area.

Be sure you have a good idea of the cosmetic custom stuff you want. I did not and although I immediately called Edel it took awhile to connect and then after we discussed the changes I wanted was told it was already on its way for the blacking. Rob was supposed to call me back over a week ago but despite leaving him a couple of voicemails I have not heard anything...a bit disappointed in the service aspect given how much I am paying for this club.

Thanks for the heads-up, @PapaMatt . That would not have occurred to me until it was too late.

@PapaMatt great advice, and I have been looking at my options. May get fitted for a wedge as well (if he has time) ... and I have picked out my options that as well.

Fitting went well ... I tend to hit the ball right ... man was it ever hot out on the putting green today. Not sure on the delivery date. Was the fitter supposed to use a laser?

After he set up the new putter I was hitting better than before ... and I could actually feel the difference through the club and sound. We did spend almost 20-30 minutes putting with my current putter. Spent an equal amount of time with Edel setups as well. While I am not a club guy, the new setup is different from the old Scotty and "felt" I was hitting better.

I'm a bit confused. Did you read the OP? Were you fit with the laser? Was it a traditional Edel putter (because they're not the greatest feeling putters at all simply because of how they're built, with cams holding the hosel, face plate for loft, etc.). The feel is often very clanky with the "assembled" putter.

Edel putters are fit for AIM. Many people, for example, who aim left and who have compensated by pushing their putts will push their first 100 or 150 putts with their new Edel before they wash that out of their stroke entirely. Fitting for your current stroke isn't how Edel putters are supposed to be fit.

My fittings take almost an hour with JUST the Edel putter. You got it done in 20-30 minutes?

Sadly it looks like I did not get fitted correctly (no laser) ... I putted with my putter for 20-30 minutes, and putted with the Edel putters for 20-30 minutes (could be wrong on these timings as we did try several different setups) I was on a large putting surface outside. I did putt with a target and without a target ... did aim with a sloped target, etc ... We did work on distance control The entire fitting on the putting surface was about an hour ( I believe) ... Crap ... will call the fitter ... there is another here in the area as well.

I think people can do things differently, but… I don't know that I feel good about your fitting. How do you "did aim with a sloped target" for example? You had no way of checking your aim.

Did you read the OP before going to get fit? If they just fit your stroke, I don't know that it's the best fit. They're supposed to be fit for aim.

How did you "work on distance control"? Describe that process, please.

I read lightly the original post a few weeks ago ... not in great detail ... On the slope, the fitter stood where I said I was aiming and watched as I hit balls his way. distance, was no pin or aim point ... he simply would place a ball and have me hit them the same while not looking at anything for reference. The good news, I did not buy a putter yet, and there is another fitter in the area.

    • Went to a PING fitting day today. Going to be ordering a G430 Max 3w with a 75g x-stiff shaft at 5w length and a 3h. I forget what my fitter did with the shaft on that but she told me she’s going to email the club the specs of everything. The 3w combination we found pretty quickly. As for the hybrid, we tried a bunch of different head and shaft combinations for that distance with mixed results. Then she handed me the 3h and I took three swings with it and knew it was the one.
    • Yeah, this isn't sandbagging. It's outright cheating. He should be banned.
    • That’s quite a generalization. It’s clear that you don’t like water but there are plenty of us that drink it just fine. My daily intake is usually about 20oz of black coffee, 16oz of soda, 8oz of milk mixed into a protein shake, and anywhere between 30-60oz of water. It doesn’t even need to be cold and I kind of prefer it closer to room temperature than cold. I quite like the taste of tap water, with sole exception being the tap water at Magic Kingdom (it’s terrible). I can’t stand when people bring me tap water with a lemon wedge in it. I didn’t ask for lemon in my water.
