Best ball to go straight

Hey guys, I have a terrible slice that I can't control. I saw a commercial for a ball that will go straighter. Does it actually help? Or is it just advertising. If it does work what is the best one out there? Thanks.

Best ball to go straight is the one you don't hit with a slice (or hook) swing

Seriously, if you've got a wicked slice the only ball that could "fix" it is a non-conforming (i.e. illegal) one.  Yes there will be some difference in how extreme your slice is between the lowest spin ball and the highest spin ball you can find.  But a wicked slice is still going to be a wicked slice with the lowest spin conforming ball.  Fix your swing!  Lots of good resources on this site for that.

Go get a lesson. Chances are a decent instructor will have you hitting it more in the intended direction before the end of the first lesson. The money saved on lost balls will be enough to justify it.

OK, so maybe I could tack on a question to this thread since I think it's relevant:

I wanted to specifically ask about what sort of expectations I should have between ProV1x and NXT Tour balls.

Currently, I've been playing NXT Tours for a while, and I enjoy them a great deal. I like the control around greens I get with them as compared with Velocity and DT Solo balls that I used to play, but I would like a bit more. I've been able to get my handicap down and my driving up, which is why I'm considering the change. I don't hit driver. Can't avoid a massive slice consistently. I use a Nike Covert Tour 1.0 3-wood set to 13° that I get out around 240 yards total, with some longer and shorter drives as the case normally is. I hit a slight draw with the wood when I hit the NXT Tours and hit a majority of fairways, with misses typically being modest over-draws. Every club besides driver I hit is a draw. I just have trouble with that club, so I've just taken it out of play for now.

I normally switch to ProV1s (not ProV1Xs; I just found a bunch of those on the course) on short-iron par-3s, and I get very nice spin with them. I've always avoided hitting urethane balls with drivers or other longer clubs because I was always told that they'd make my misses worse given their spin rates. Basically, I'm asking is that likely to be the case? Obviously the stock answer is "Go out and try them" and I am planning to, but I'm looking for some general thoughts about what to expect? Do these balls tend to exacerbate a draw and would I, as a 22 handicap, be better served sticking to the NXT Tour? Or is it really just marginal differences we're talking about (off the driver / 3-wood)? I'd welcome everyone's thoughts!

A CHEAP but GOOD straight/long ball is the good 'ol Nike Mojo's.  I honestly loved these when I just started playing.

Top-Flite d2+ Straight, but it is not going to solve a wicked slice.   A couple of lessons will save you a lot of time, money, and aggravation.
