I have always disliked Sergio Garcia, always found him to be ungracious and bratty. I even have to admit that in the past I would take secret (and not so secret) joy in watching him choke on a Sunday. Loads of talent but just a distasteful fellow that, I felt, didn't deserve to win. For some reason, that I cannot quite put my finger on, that has all changed. I don't know if it's been a sudden change or a slow transformation (and I refer both to my perceptions as well as to his persona), but the change has happened and it is dramatic (in both of the aforementioned regards). Perhaps it was Chickenwing-gate that provided the catalyst for this shift, I can only speculate.

Sergio seems to me to be happier, mentally stronger and a better person in general. I have found myself actually pulling for the fiery Spaniard when he has been in contention, and he has done a lot of that as of late. It feels weird after such a long history of disliking him, but it also feels good. I'd rather be positive than negative, it may not make you live longer but it will certainly make you live happier and I believe that both Sergio and myself are happier now.

You heard it here first, I am now pulling for Sergio to get his Major!

GO SERGIO!

I've been pulling for Sergio for a while now. Still don't know if I "like" the guy, but he's very fun to watch when he's playing well, and not the robot that most guys are.

I pull for him when he's doing well, am frustrated when he plays himself out of contention  - even though I expect it.  I wouldn't really call myself a "fan" - but there's something about him that makes you want him to do well.  He seems like a real PITA to be around . .I bet it's not easy being in his entourage.

I felt the same way for him on Sunday, he wants to win so bad at this point that he's over thinking and trying.  You could see the pain in his face when he contemplated going for it on 17 or laying up.  The poor shot he hit from 90 yards out sort of demonstrates that he wasn't comfortable with his choice.

I almost feel like he's in the same boat as Tiger, both are really struggling to win and really feeling the pressure of it.

Back in the day(2005-2010 lol) Sergio was one of my favorite golfers. Him and Tiger. But year by year, I found my fandom of him going down and down. After the whole Tiger incident, he spiraled in my view. However, this last year he seems to have changed. He's less whiny and more confident.

Like others here, I've never been a Sergio fan.  This opinion jelled for me what he was talking sh*t about Tiger.  Even now, I don't think Sergio is good enough to carry Tiger's jockstrap.

Love it when he fails, as he did just yesterday doing something he supposedly does well -- chipping.

That ball rolling into the water on the 17th hole/island green at the BMW Championship would be something that I (a rank beginner) would do.  This flub (that Johnny Miller called a "flat choke") reminded me of the time when the Sergio/Tiger "fried chicken" blowup was in full bloom and when Sergio dumped 3 balls in the water trying to reach another island green on the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass, which was more like "Tin Cup," during the 2013 Players Championship that Tiger won (6 strokes ahead of Sergio in 3rd).  Now, that was classic Sergio!

Ive always liked Sergio because he shows his emotions like a real person and he says whats on his mind.He definitely doesn't do the PC speech.Besides I cant stand tiger so he gets points with me for that.

I've always kind of liked him and wish he would win a major. he's animated and emotional and very human like, compared to some of the robots and others that lack some social skills. Some day he'll be a very interesting ryder cup captain, I guess I see a little Sevi in him. Anyone who dislikes him, I encourage you to watch the GC Ferehty episode where Sergio is interviewed, he came across as very genuine person.

You gotta hand it to Sergio for working hard on his game to get back to where he is today. It wasn't long ago that his putting was in the dumps now look at him. His confidence is high, he's got a new GF heck the sky is the limit.

Why? Golf is his job. Why should he be praised for working hard. He gets paid based on how well he plays. I think he's a jag and I love watching him drop 3 in the water at the players last year.

Sergio's attitude sucked not long ago but he definitely re-invented himself. I enjoy seeing a success story.

I like sergio -- he has a beautiful swing, fiery attitude and he's a taylormade guy. I hope he wins at least 2 majors in his career. He and Justin Rose are probably 2 of my favorites besides tiger and rory

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
