One week a 43 (9 holes); the Next 54, what the hell!!!

9 strokes different over 9 holes, pftt, I can do that over a couple of holes. And the lowest score wouldn't be much to boast about either.

It's a real hell of a thing isn't it.

One recent round saw a 15-stroke swing between the front and back. It was in the happier direction, but I just sat in the clubhouse wondering what it in the world changed. Never did figure it out.

Its called being a 20 handicap

36+10 = 46

43+54 = 97 divide by 2 = 48

Close enough, a person can waste two shots by hitting a ball OB. High handicap players have a higher volatility in their scores than lower handicap players, but you will average around your handicap, which you are.

Doesn't get much better into single digits. I haven't looked at my last 20 in a while because I haven't played much lately but the difference from best to worst score at any time is usually around 10-11 strokes for me. Don't remember what the score dispersion was when I played to a 20 but I would assume a significantly wider spread. I do remember this how difficult or not a course was has little affect on how well I strike the ball. How well I score comes down to ball striking, less mistakes means better scores.

Not quite this extreme (but close), this had been the ENTIRE month of August for me. I'd break 50 on the first 9 and shoot high 50's on the next. Misery must loves company because it somehow makes it not so bad to know it happens to everyone.
