Hey guys!

As above, I'm looking for some nice headphones. Just remember around here we don't have a lot of brands.

I have tried some of the ones we have available here.

- Bang & Olufsen: I have the Beolit12 speaker and I thought the headphones would be as good as the Beolit but no. I mean the sound is sharp but where's the bass? The Beolit12 with his 100 watt power gives you a nice punch, why they didn't do something similar to the headphones?

- Beats: I tried the ones designed by David Guetta. To be honest I don't like tha brand but these ones sounded pretty cool, nice definition and nice amount of bass.

- Skull-Candy: I tried a version that allows you to control the bass... definition is passable and the bass at the top makes your chicks vibrate.

- Panasonic: I tried some version that is made for DJ's. They sound nice but wasn't sold completely on them.

- Marsall: They were good but would need to try them again.

- Bose: Nice but something like the B&O.;

So, which ones would - eventhoug they are not listed - you prefer and why?

The use for this headphones is going to be for sitting in the couch or laying on the bed and listen my music, usually when it's late to listen it on the speaker.

Thanks!

The Bose QC-20 I have (thanks again guys!) are incredible !! Can't recommend them highly enough.

They're in-ear, though, so if you want headphones, I still think Bose is a pretty good way to go.

I swapped out for the smaller rubber parts (you get S, M, and L) and they're quite comfortable. After about an hour with the M it could get a bit uncomfortable, but the S fit quite good and still seal really well.

The rubber is really soft.

I use Bose QC15. Very comfortable and eliminates virtually all background noise. It also has Mac/iPod/iPhone jack so you can control the volume using the headphone. Full disclosure: I am partial to Bose as it was founded by graduates of my alma mater.

+1. Love mine. Also like that they use a AAA battery instead of having to be charged. I carry a spare battery in the case and know that I'll never find myself out of juice.

Reviews say that the 20s made a big step forward in their noise canceling.

I don't know if I would be happy with changing batteries. Is that something that would be needed for noise canceling headphones?

Pretty sure all of them require a battery of some kind. They need more power than can be drawn from the 1/8" jack.

Ahhh. Didn't know that.

So if I exclude the noise-cancelling part and I want a headphone that gives that sound quality but also a bit of bass deepness... where should I look?

I have a pair of etymotic in ear headphones that I used to watch TV at night to not bother my wife or son when they are sleeping.  I ran a really long headphone extension cable from my tv.  They do not have active noise canceling(don't need a battery), but they fit in your ear so snug that it blocks out any outisde noise. And the quality of the sound is amazing.  They do not have enhanced bass like some other headphones, but etymotic is know as reproducing sound very realistically with their headphones.  I highly recommend them.

2.1 speakers

Joking, I heard good things about Bose, especially their over the ear noise cancelling headphones.

I've seen good reviews on the Audio Technica ATH-M50x. They are not noise cancelling, but they are half the price of the Bose headphones and with really good reviews on their sound.

Some people - quite a few - have recommended me Etymotic headphones. Will nee to search if they are available in somewhere in Mexico.

Let me do a quick search on those Audio Technica. Thanks!

audio technica ATH-M50 blows Bose out of the water.  should be about $130.

Are the audio technica ATH-M50 active noise canceling? I didn't think so.

I have the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7b and I like them. They are not better in terms of performance than the Bose, but they do the job and are considerably less expensive.

    • Its going to be a busy few months for me.  In just a couple of weeks I'll be joining the SandTrap group near Pittsburgh for 2 rounds.  Then in August we'll be in Nova Scotia for a week, including both Cabot courses.  And now we've added another little holiday.  Following my niece's wedding west of Detroit, my wife and I will go up to Forest Dunes for 3 rounds.  I picked that spot because I'm intrigued by The Loop, a Doak design that is played in different directions on alternating days.  One day is the Red, playing counter-clockwise, the next days is the black, going clockwise.  And there's the original course, a Weiskopf design.  All told, 10 new courses to add to my list!
