I read that Jimenez is having second thoughts about wanting the RC captain's job. I like his reasoning. If he were to take on that RC job, it would cost him actual playing time. His competitive game would suffer. He wants to still compete with the other pros.

I too want him to continue to compete. He is one of the few pro golfers I will watch on TV.

More likely it would cut into his European playboy lifestyle.

That's a bit harsh, dont'cha think?

The cat has been competitive in a few of the recent majors.

Don't blame him for wanting to wait a few yrs.

Absolutely love the guy.

But wtf is that squirrel doing under his hat?

I enjoy watching him, but I also root against him. Same deal I have going with Mr. Woods, only different somehow.

I've always liked rooting against certain teams or competitors as much as I like rooting for others.

I just post it as I see it.  He has often been quoted as not spending a lot of time working on his game, because he prefers his freewheeling playboy lifestyle.  To say that he refuses the captaincy because it would hurt his game seems to be contrary to that philosophy.  I can believe that he might feel that it might cut into his playing time, but that isn't 7 days a week.  Most pros spend a lot of their non tournament days practicing, but my understanding is that Jimenez does very little of that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing him for wanting to live life on his own terms - more power to him.  I'm not sure that I'd necessarily want the headaches that go with a job like the Ryder Cup captain's position either - I sure as hell wouldn't want the US job after all the crap that's gone on about it this year.

I don't get it.  You seem to want to denigrate M-A-J for his self-admitted foibles, whilst giving him props for admitting those foibles.

IDK, mebbe too many double neg's for my bean. :bugout:

Where did I denigrate anyone?

Maybe he's afraid that he will be the Captain of the losing side and all the drama associated with that.

.... like that's going to happen in our lifetime. :-D

How do you know? And why would you say such a thing? He just got married and he may wish to spend time with his wife.

And how am I supposed to know that?  It's not like my life revolves around the lives of every pro golfer.  I don't follow golf on Facebook or Twitter.  I have other interests in my life.  Jimenez's lifestyle as a playboy is well publicized.

Is it also well documented that Miquel spends very little time on his golf game? that you wrote about on post #5?

Please remember to keep this discussion civil.  These tend to get out of hand.

Not to worry, I'm out of it.  If I'd realized that all these guys were related to him I'd have never commented in the first place. :smartass:

You can love him all you want.  If the Captain thing doesn't work out there is always an act he could do in some strip joint on the far side of town.

    • Akshay Bhatia beat him in a playoff last year I think. He went something like -7 on his last 7 holes to get into a playoff and then rinsed a wedge on the 1st extra hole in a way that would have made Tommy (and Rory) blush.
    • Tristan, did you end up getting the new Edel wedges?  I'm very about due for new wedges.  I was trying other configurations a few years ago and somehow my 54 and 58 are both hand-me-downs that I never got around to getting as new and fitted, and my last new-as-in-new wedges were Ping Glides a long time ago.  I was thinking of Edel wedges earlier today, although their website seems to list only two fitters.   Did you end up getting them, and if so, what do you think of them?
    • @colin007, in terms of realistic sci-fi, its the best ever. They actually had an astrophysicist consult on the movie to be as accurate as possible with what we know about the universe.  For like dystopian, Blade Runner is probably king. Action/suspense is probably Alien/Aliens. Though Starship Troopers is fantastic. The Matrix is amazing.
    • Day 4 (August 14).  Full swing in my indoor practice room;  6-iron, off a mat, into a net.  Focus was on what I believe was my priority piece at last lesson (which, admittedly, was almost three years ago, due to absence).  I hit about a dozen balls this morning before going into the office.  (Also, errata to yesterday:  9 of the 12 coins were picked up on the second or third go around -- you can't pick up one on the first go around for that drill)
    • Watched The Gentlemen, took a little bit to get into it, but very good Guy Ritchie movie.  Collin Farrell and Hugh Grant were great. Give it a birdie.
