To whom?

Not to me. Maybe to locals who can attend in person…

Me? I'd rather watch a professional golfer play professional golf than Bill Murray doing just about anything on a golf course. Chuck Schwab too.

Me as well.  But the intent of this tournament has long been a celebrity Pro AM.  Not sure when it got started, but during the Rat Pack days it was a big deal.

I watched Murray hit a shot where he backed off about 5 times to talk to the audience. Must've been great fun for the players waiting to hit their shots and the gallery waiting patiently on the green while he took two minutes to hit a shot.

He thinks this tournament is all about him.

He's not "connecting with ordinary people", he's encouraging them to be star struck and he is a narcissist. The opposite.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I also saw him try to pool cue a putt into the hole, missed, tapped it backwards, missed again, blurted out a couple of profanities with his sloppy demeanor, putted it again through his legs all the while walking all over and through everyone's putting lines with his spikes and then he proceeded to throw his putter into the grass for his caddy to go fetch it for him...

Considering we play a game of etiquette he really lowered the bar.  There was nothing "funny" about that display of sloppiness and ridiculous behavior.  His act is tired.

Yes, which it can still be to the people there in person . To the TV audience, I say just show us the professional golf tournament with an occasional really good or really bad shot by a "celebrity."

I'm not parading around trying to get attention and sucking up to galleries, with the most predictable and boring routine imaginable.

Would you be one of the ones gazing at him and laughing and clapping while he throws his club down in mock disgust for the twentieth time in nine holes?

It'd be SO funny if he picked your wife up and carried her away and called her a "cougar". So unpredictable, so witty, so original...especially when you saw him do it three times last year on TV.

Well, there is a line in there somewhere between "parading around and trying to get attention" and "entertaining," isn't there?  What's the difference between people who buy tickets to the tournament, check the pairings looking for Murray's group, then go find him and laugh, and people who buy tickets to a show at a theater, then go find their seats and laugh?

Do you just have a problem with the venue?  I could see that.  (Side note:  I now vaguely remember him doing something a decade or so ago that crossed the line and they thought about, or did, un-invite him for a bit?  I don't remember though.)

I can also see that it's very tired act on TV.  But I don't put that on Murray, because Murray is playing to the crowds at the course.  They are different on every hole - so it makes sense that he can repeat some things and still be funny to them.  I put that on CBS for thinking those of us at home like to watch that.  (And perhaps they're not even wrong, because a few people in this thread, amongst a crowd of serious diehard golfers, mind you, have expressed that they find him entertaining)

I just think that calling an entertainer a narcissist is kind of weird, because getting people to look at them and watch them do funny stuff is their job.  If you just find him unfunny, though, then I can't argue with that.  I am tired of the act as well.

My wife would love that as would I!  Please get off your high horse.  They invite celebrities for a reason.  If you don't like it, don't watch.  Pretty simple.

Yep. That combined with an inability to "own" behaviour and accept responsibility is a bad combination. Narcissistic tendencies need to be curbed when your number is up, but try telling that to a Narcissist!  But the blaming of others is what is worse.

30 caddies were all bad, you see and the media pick on him.

Someone gave him a yardage that was three metres out and, of course, being such an awesome player, it means the difference between a win and a loss. He's always blaming others and this episode is typical.

This is why I admire so much the caddies who just put the bag down and walk off mid round. It shows personal integrity

But...some of our friends on the site believe we need to help and support him.

Because he has a history of being a narcissistic, self-righteous publicity hound who would rather create drama than leave things be.

Notice how the $1000 had to be given to the lady when the cameras were on?  And now she's had enough of it all......

Girls with eating disorders don't do it for me.

Look at those legs!

Yuk .

What is worse s the narcissistic instagram feeds.

He's such an inspiration.

He has proved that anyone can achieve anything.

The movie is going to be incredible - but what a future he has as a motivational speaker!

His Keynote speech will be titled

How you can shoot in the 80s and dream of a future on the PGA Tour and get every news organisation on the planet to think you are actually doing it.

Typically, this deluded fraud has a bunch of supporters on his website saying he can do it. Idiots who say that at first they thought he was nuts, but are giving him a chance.

Seriously - I'll bet there are guys on this site who started at the same time as him, have played a couple of times a week and had some lessons who would smoke him.

And for those who will predictably accuse me of being a "hater", there are numerous very recent interviews where he still claims that his plan is to play on the PGA Tour.

2018 Heritage, to be precise.

Just how he will get there ahead of the several hundred thousand players with a similar ambition who can actually play is going to be a minor stumbling block.

Rather than being a deluded and naive innnocent, he's starting to look like a calculating and shonky narcissist.

I've seen enough of the hideously narcissistic  instagram pouting, chicken legs, fake teeth, legs spread on a boat, and fake tan to make a superficial judgement.

Would you be prepared to invest your money in a venture using the advice I quoted? all of those things are great in established businesses. They are not sustainable for a new one.

Do you think that kids who are beginners at golf and want to be rich, famous and not work are to be encouraged?  You don't think this "dreams" are narcissistic fantasies?

As I've said, they can get down to plus 4 , then dream.

How many sets of golf clubs do you think you would net to sell to cover your rent when you are "price matching" against the internet?

Do you seriously think that "free doughnuts" will mean you'll sell more clubs that suppliers won't allow you to sell anyway?

How are you going to "have" famous pros turning up to your shop?

I'm all for dreams, but I'm more into reality.

Do you really think this? Do you really think it's all about him? Surely you don't think he's that selfish and narcissistic.

More likely, like the average player he thinks that someting which used to be an oddity and an embarrassment to the player using it is now almost becoming mainstream, and, generally, I'd say that, like may here, Tiger thinks it's a bad look for the game. And - he thinks it's against what a golf "swing" should be.

When this narcissist forst hatched his plan, there were people on this site saying stuff like "he might make it to the web.com tour, but maybe not PGATour." Or EVAN AFTER seeing video of his vile looking swing they thought he'd probably make it.

Or they immediately made it about temselves and how THEY would be scratch if they had the time and money.

He isn't athletic enough  to get to 10.

His "handicap" is DIY manipulated BS.

I guess he doesn't go to many comedy shows.

I gotta say, I'm usually with you, but not on this one. I don't care for Bill Murray either ... so I just ignore him. Pretty simple.

I am sensing a theme...I am not sure though.

You have shrewdly observed that I detest egotists and narcissists. Henceforth I will confine my posts to the following: How I am "money" from 100 yards. How I have only detected "minor" drops in performance with ProV 1 balls after two rounds. How I carry a 68 degree wedge. How my putting routine takes 2 minutes. How I find false teeth and fake breasts "hot". How I think Dan "might" get an invitation to play in a PGA Tour event. How my drives carry 220 and roll 34 on all courses and in all conditions. How I think Tiger is on steroids despite any hint or suggestion that supports my theory. How I think club pros like to "authenticate" perfectly good clubs purchased on ebay Or suggest to members that they send a $150 putter to SC to be paintfilled and stamped.
