Count "me" as 2 to include my son. So, we're at 11.

Yeah, the only reason I didn't is because you had mentioned that one of the dates might not work for him or something like that.

I must being getting old ... I thought there was talk of playing the Palm Springs area at one time ... at some point I want to make an outing.

I plan to play Palm Springs extensively from May to August this year. Maybe we can have a side outing. You, me, I'm guessing @tristanhilton85 , maybe @Bechambo and anyone else who wants to join us. I also might try to get out to Phoenix to play this summer. When do the rates go back up again? I might try to get out for a summer golf round and a football game in the same weekend if I can figure out a way to make it happen.
So whatever happened to having it in Palm Springs? @Golfingdad @tristanhilton85 @mvmac
Please don't forget me if it happens.

Okay, thanks.

@tristanhilton85 for Terra Lago, we could probably get green fees down to $40 each, late morning, on the North. There is nobody out there anymore. Season's over.

Sounds like a good idea.

When it's cold out, I tell people to express the temperature in Rankine. This allows it to sound warmer than it is. Similarly, we can use Celsius for this outing. It won't be more than 40 degrees, maybe 45 tops. Why, that sounds downright frigid, doesn't it? With wind chill, it might well be below absolute zero. Seriously, count me in for summer desert golf. If you need another, especially on a weekend, let me know -- I plan to be out there plenty.

If we could swing a side venture that might work for me as well. They start over seeding in September ... with higher rates following shortly afterward. I am certainly no stranger to golfing in 100+ heat (a dry heat)

So at 110ish+ I have to wear gloves when I ride my bike into work ... otherwise my fingernails hurt from the heat blowing on them at about 2nd gear ... forget anything faster ... if it reaches 115 I will not even ride ... it takes my breath away So that is as close to "hot as hell" as I can define for you ... at least in the Phx area

Average temp that time of year is right around 100° and this year we seem to be 5-10° above average every day. I'd say it'd be around 105°.

That's really not that bad in the desert.

If everybody is fine with it, I am... I just want to make sure we get the biggest turn out we can and that the guys who aren't quite as use to the heat don't burst into flames...

Anyways, I'll send out some emails tomorrow and see what kind of a response I get, at which point I'll lay out the options and add a poll.

Where is this Spring outing being held?  Has that already been determined?

If not, what airport is closest to the area(s) up for consideration?

It hasn't been determined yet... Looking at Industry Hills or possibly the Palm Springs area. I'm not sure what airport would be closest to Industry (John Wayne maybe?) but if it's out here, it'd be Palm Springs International.

For Industry Hills I think Ontario is going to be the simplest.  It's a 35 minute drive straight down the 10 or the 60.

  • 2 weeks later...

How many guys do you have confirmed for 5/24?  Would it blow up the outing if I backed out?  This move is a lot more work than I expected it to be.  I might still be painting by the time 5/24 comes around.

    • Day 7 - Mirror work, trying to hit that PGA-logo position in my follow through. Mirror really helped, need to film soon.
    • So hit the😝 irons crooked AND play layup golf?? Hahaha.. no thanks. I would rather stay home. 😊
    • First - glad to see these popping up again. Now to the topic at hand - I would rather be option 1.  If I know how far it's going (I mean a yard or two) I can always play to the wider parts of the fairway and/or the green and still do reasonably well.  Now if I could just really hit the "number" that well.
    • Day 2 (10 Mar 25) - Long day of driving to dr appt with son.  Thankfully got in one of my fave putting drills (two ball side by side) - the goal to have both balls come off the putter face equally by having them come off the putter face as close to the same time as possible.  First few rolls - the toe was leading the way as that ball flew off the face.  By the end of the drill both balls were basically equal off the face, rolling to within a couple of inches of each other.  Nice drill of focusing on squaring the face.  BTW - I was using the old Odyssey DF992.
    • Day 161 - 2025-03-10 Got a decent, long session in. Focused mostly on the backswing feels, and moved on toward the end of the four hours (not all hitting balls, I installed a motion sensing light switch in there too, and worked with a student over FaceTime for a bit) on the downswing feel.
