Worthless, useless, pointless.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Hi, Looking for some feedback please on a new product I am working on developing - it's a mulligan ball holder with velcro glove holder on bottom

I don't think I would buy it.  I put the ball in my pocket.  My push cart has a ball holder as well.  Lastly, I would worry that the plastic tabs would break.

I don't take "mulligans".... My glove is either on my hand or in my back pocket. So, what @Shorty said.

I agree with @Shorty 100%. It's a solution searching for a problem. I think I'm going to invent a pocket that clips onto your pocket.

I don't think it is a terrible idea. I do find a golf ball in my pocket distracting sometimes but a belt clip just looks amateurish. And yeah, the word "mulligan" will quickly turn off any serious golfers, though I can't think of good name because there really is no appealing way to refer to losing a ball.

The Provisional Ball Holder, haha

Yeah, this product is dumb. Even if someone doesn't like carrying balls in their pocket, they'll just put one in there on the odd tee shot where they have their bags far from the tee box and are worried about a lost ball. This would be something Batman would have on his belt if he were playing golf. Along with Bogey Repellent Bat-Spray, haha.

In other words, their target market is essentially limited to vigilante superhero golfers.

I already have one.

It's called a pocket.

Maybe I should have filed for a patent on it.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I think it's a neat idea.... ......if you want to look like a dork. Concealed carry is the way to go - if you need a back-up weapon, go with an ankle holster.

I hope you didn't spend much developing that prototype. I don't think many serious golfers will flock to it, but if you look at all the gimmicks in Golf Galaxy, you may realize they can be sold. It amazes me how many people I see walking out of GG with impulse buys. I think you should cater to that market.

I apologize for having a spam URL in my signature and will not do it again.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
