I'm all for legal and organized protesting but it seems to have gotten out of hands these days.  You also have to question their level of commitment to the cause if she couldn't even last a week.

That's nothing. I used to belong to a group called "Protesters against Protests". Every time we got together we'd break up and leave in under a minute. Weird. More seriously, I get the sense that these were not pros....

Right, which is why I said "I agree with you in this case."    I was just pointing out that that certainly isn't always the case.  Obviously, since you're an engineer (I didn't know that at the time) you already know all of that.

golfindad, my apologies, I deal with so many unreasonable county, state and federal employees, that at times they drive me nuts. :pound:

Just how long did they think they could live in a tree, anyway?

A handful of protesters lived in the trees on the Berkeley campus for 738 days protesting the removal of a small grove of trees to build the new football stadium.

How long they think they can stay there depends on their dedication to stupidity I guess.

A handful of protestors? I'm assuming they rotated in and out? This is just one guy, now.

IIRC, there was a core group of 6-8, but at it's peak, there were probably 12-20 people living in the trees.

They were getting ground support for supplies, but never really came down until the very end.

Development of a golf course within the city limits seems to me a beneficial use of land that preserves the natural environment better than low income housing (or in the case of my home course multi-million dollar estates along the riverbed previously primarily agriculture).

Turn these envirowhackos loose in real wilderness (of which we in Colorado have a good deal of) and they would be eaten by the native bears and lions before they gave in from starvation.

Darwinism at work!

Yeah, how lucky of them to have such understanding bosses. Either that, or they aren't gainfully employed...

Trump would have just cut down the tree. Problem solved. :-D

He would have carved his last name deeper and deeper into the tree until it toppled over.

"Lloyd" fell out of the tree. It's over.

Quote:

The lone man standing, er, sitting fell out of the tree on Tuesday, according to Nola.com . Witnesses say Jonathan "Lloyd" Boover flipped out of a hammock perched midway up the tree. He appeared to injure his nose, leg and foot, and was eventually taken away by an ambulance.

Lloyd, the name he was known by among fellow protestors, had been living in the tree since March 13. That's 11 days of living in a tree. Hammock or not, that's impressive.
