Haven't watched a single stroke of golf from this tournament.  My way to countering the over-saturation of golf by the tour. Season is way too long. Got burned out last season, so my plan this year was not to watch until Phoenix/Cali tourneys then the FLA swing, then back off until Augusta and possibly watch RBC Hilton Head since I've gone to that tourney a couple of times.......then sporatically watch except World Golf Championhip and majors......if the pros take tournaments off, so will I.  Call it the Steve Stricker approach to following golf.

I'm sure you all wanted to know this information.

I'm glad they are getting their asses kicked this week. Good to seem them humble. Also, Jimmy Walker is damn good at this game. I like Spieth, but he still has bouts of immaturity to me. He doesn't take his time and seems to get distracted. Until that changes, I don't see him rising to the level he is expected to get to.

Yeah, I find the tournaments with the higher cut lines, a lot more fun to watch. I would like to see more golf where the winner is no more than 10 under par for the tournament.

G-Mac's been off all year. Just something not right with him. So not surprising he has an injury.

More than likely he strained the lateral ligament above the talus – common to NFL running backs. 5-7 days of rest. He’ll be ready for the Masters - he better. My wife likes this guy. When the CG gets distended it can be quite painful and troublesome. Many times it can be corrected via sitz bath, and a treatment of over the counter NSAIDs.

I wonder if he aggravated it stepping through the shaft on his putter? He putted his last couple holes using his wedge.

Where is he expected to get to?

He is now #4 in the world (having 8 top 10 finishes in his last 10 events)

I know a guy who made up an injury to get out of a tournament a few years ago and most recently chucked his 3 iron into a lake. He never got to the level he was expected to, plateauing at #1 in the world. Ah, what could've been if he'd just been more mature.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
