It's definitely pretty low key right now, no one is shaking up the draft at all, except the Redskins passing on Leonard Williams and then the Jets picking another defensive player, now there is a surprise.

The Jets' coach was one of the best -- IMO, the best -- defensive coordinators last year. And looking at their offense, it's not like that is going to produce the points for them. I'm keeping a small eye on the draft as long as I'm near a computer, but the only college player in the draft I had heard of before they were discussed in the context of being drafted isn't projected in the first round, so I'm not sure how much I care about tonight's broadcast.

I hope Melvin Gordon ends up on a winning/good team. He's a great guy and a hell of a RB.  He had good number at WI with no help at QB or WR.  All year he rushed against stacked fronts and all he did was put up great numbers.

Jets said they'd select the best player available so I guess that's what they did.  They haven't signed Wilkerson yet so maybe this is insurance in case they can't reach an agreement.

I still think Tampa Bay should have traded out of the first pick. Winston is to risky for that first spot. He's a project player who is 2-3 years out if he can keep his nose clean. To me he's not mature enough to be a top tier QB in the NFL. Unless he gains some maturity in 3 years he'll be a huge bust. He had a lot of hype on him, I think he would have been a great trade out of the first pick situation. Get multiple picks this year and maybe a first round next year. They could trade down 4-5 spots, picked up Leonard Williams and also gained picks for more depth.

Picking a QB with the first pick is always risky.

Winston is a great athlete and QB, the concern was his off the field activity which I guess he addressed to the satisfaction of TB management.  QB's, more so than any other position require development time, if you remember, Peyton Manning wasn't great his first season.  The problem Winston has is TB isn't a good team overall and there will be a lot of pressure on him to perform like a top tier QB.

I think another issue might be he'll be in Florida. If he was drafted by a team outside of Florida then they could isolate him from any potential bad influences. Maybe he hangs around with the wrong crowd.

My Pat's got a steal in the draft.  Thank you the other 31 teams.  Malcolm Brown is going to be a stud in the middle of the defense for at least 5 years.

He was a good pick I think.  We'll find out in the fall.

I agree and I also think it puts more pressure on him to preform being a hometown kid. Tampa doesn't have a qb so they drafted one. I would have taken super Mario instead but they both have questions.

Mario played in a spread offense, Winston played in a pro style offense, so I think Mario is going to take more time to develop.

Minor point of correction: the Patriots drafted Malcom Brown, the defensive tackle (so I think that's who you're referencing). There is a Malcolm Brown in the draft, but he's a running back. Of course, your team has had quite some success, both with defensive linemen in the first round, and also guys with names similar to Malcom playing defense, so taking that guy was smart.

He might take more time but from what everyone is saying he's a good character guy. Winston is a hell of a talent. So was JaMarcus Russell.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
