Most dominant company in golf right now?

I would have to say TalyorMade, new drivers, new irons, and the fact that it seems like they sponsor half of the PGA tour. For second I would have to say Callaway, I mean lately it seems like Titleist hasn't really been doing much. Every golf shop I go in to only has maybe one or 2 sets of Titleist irons and a full rack of drivers, it just seems that they are lagging now. Thoughts?

I think if we are talking amateur golf then I would agree. However if we are talking golf in general, including the PGA, LPGA, Euro, etc.,I would have to say that Nike is up there. You don't see Nike in too many pro shops but their visibility on the tours is enormous. I think Titleist's main products right now are their wedges and Scotty Cameron putters. I would have to say that Callaway and Taylormade have emerged as the two powerhouses in golf today.

i disagree, nike stuff is thrown in my face in every pro shop i go to, but on tour, most people seem to be using titleist(most with TM drivers though)

Isn't it relative? It depends on how you define dominance. Total sales, worldwide sales? Equipment. clothing, tour presence, leadership and innovation? Titlest dominates the ball market and is a big with the better players and in private clubs. Callaway is probably the bigges player in womens clubs, Taylor made and Nike are just about everywhere in the US but I don't know about the rest of the world. Companies like Bridgestone, Wilson, and Mizuno may be more dominant outside the US. I am not sure there is one company that you could call the Toyota of golf. Nike may be the most likely possiblity if they can grow their iron business and use Tigers worldwide image effectively.

I say Callaway,Eveyone seems to have big Bertha this, or X20 X18's and so on..

Callaway by a long shot when it comes to clubs, though the R7 is popular..

Still, I swear, one day when I am good enough I am going to start playing with vintage clubs, just to show up everyone who thinks equipment makes such a difference.

In the Pro segment, Titleist seems to be the most used overall. If you factor in the golf ball, as Bo the Golfer stated; Titleist by a landslide.

If you look at the not-good-enough-to-be-sponsored category (read: the average Joe-Golfer), it's harder to track what we use because we tend to gravitate towards the latest and greatest in hopes of buying a low round of golf. I think the main reason why you don't see that much Titleist equipment at your local golf store is because Titleist targets their equipment to the low-handicap, serious player. If you look at their entire product line, almost everything they make is played by a pro--the lone exception is their 775 irons.

I've asked a few shops in my area why they don't seem to carry a lot of Titleist equipment and pretty much, the answers are the same. Their equipment is just too hard for the average player to use. And the ones that are good enough to buy them aren't at the store each week or month looking for the latest and greatest. They're on the golf course or at the range working on their short-game.

So, it's simple business 101. Lack of sales results in lack of inventory and shelf space. While nobody admits it, I would imagine that many companies are only stocking the bare minimum required by Titleist because their golf balls sell well, and they want to ensure that Titleist keeps sending them their orders.

If the shop has an outdoor range they can get Titleist sooner. This includes all Titleist products, balls,hats, clubs....Have a friend in the business. Same with Cleveland.. My pro shop here is awesome, guys are great, they have a 120k machine to watch your swing and everything.. Real pro's there.. But I had to get my HIbore someone where else, they all made fun of it for a while, until I realized because Cleveland won't sell to them, YET.. But I always bring it in, and let people hit it, they go nuts over it, lol

It also depends on the part of the country you are in. We see a ton of Ping stuff. In our proshop Ping outsells all other club brands. In fact I still see a lot of the guys still playing Ping Eye2's. I know back east that is not the case. Even in the midwest when I go to Michigan, noone plays Ping.

The ball market, though, is completely dominated by Titleist no matter where you go. It just goes to show you all the major club brands make comparable equipment, but titleist golf balls are heads and tails above the rest. To be able to dominate such a highly competitive market is a testament in itself to the quality of their products.

What does the TM stand for in the MP57-TM?

I am thinking about the Mizuno MP57's, are the tour models different than the rack models? Most players on The Sand Trap that have Mizuno gear seem to love it. I'll be giving it a serious look this offseason when I purchase my new iron set.

Overall professional presence (tour and club guys)? Probably Titleist by a nice margin; Taylor Made probably has more clubs on the Tours, but balls are obviously Titleist. Callaway is strong and gaining, but not in the same realm as the other guys.

I think Callaway has the most best overall product line, although admittedly the technology and quality is very good across the board, and any differences are small.

Sponsor most staffers, huge internationally (Japan/Europe), Other brand staffers (Titleist) sometimes use Taylor Made woods, irons are unbelieveable, and since they teamed up with adidas and came out with balls, definately, to answer your question, TAYLOR MADE
