Again, he's not my choice, but are Trumps statements any broader than Bernie Sanders?  C'mon does he really think we're going to vote for a socialist?

I think Bush's bail out of banks and auto industry in 2008 has been the most socialist thing done in recent memory.

Sanders pales as a socialist in comparison,.

IMO, political incorrectness does not make him qualified for the POTUS, or should people nominate him for that reason.

He made broad brush statements that pleases a segment of voters but very few of those are realistic, and most of them are pretty ridiculous.

But the most dangerous thing about Trump is, IMO, his personality - a narcissistic personality disorder with egomaniac tendencies.   History is a full of these people in power who led nations into ruins.   Luckily, the USA political system has a lot of checks and balances but are we willing to take a chance on someone who should be sitting in a psychiatrist's office once a week?

I am always weary of people who "speak their mind" or "tell it like it is"

I find most these people, trump included are not always right, they just willing to speak regardless if their opinion is based on fact of reality.

I also tend to find people who "speak their mind" or "tell it like it is", sooner or later have some weird opinions on women and minorities!

I agree, I wasn't a fan of GW and certainly didn't like the bailout decision but if you look at it using 20/20 hindsight, the government made out quite well on the deal.   That decision likely cost the GOP the last two elections which left us stuck with Obama who forced ACA down our throats which is far more socialist than bailing out banks and auto industry.

Actually 92% of the population doesn't have NPD,

The number varies but when I was studying NPD a few years ago, most researches seem to settle on 1% - 3%.   Some countries are seeing spikes on NPD rate (China, and other countries whose birthrate has been closer or getting down to 1).   Even that spike is not well researched.  What I know is that NPD is the most difficult form of personality disorder to self realize and fix.   Many even function well in society but I would not feel good about putting that person to lead our nation.   We deserve better.

The banks paid back the bail out dollars with billions in interest. That was a win for the govt. Obama bailed out GM with no expectation of reimbursement, same with those green companies. Obama is a socialist, he's just not as honest as Sanders because he knows America isn't ready for that yet.

I agree, I was just being honest that I was against GW doing the bailouts but admit it worked out.

As for ACA, I'd say it's pretty clear this is going to financially kill the taxpayers and country.  The goal of ACA was and is to cripple private health insurance and increase health care costs (for those that pay for it) to the point where we'd be forced to move to a single provider government solution.   The plan is working.

Agreed, they knew America wouldn't accept single payer in one fell swoop so they did this as an interim step, knowing it would fail then introduce single payer as the solution. The left is very strategic, very good at deception. They are winning thanks to a spineless GOP opposition. Hence, the Trump phenomenon. Little do most know, he's kind of a single payer advocate himself.

Let's stay on topic - Trump's candidacy for the POTUS.   There is another thread where you can discuss politics, or you can start one on ACA or any others.

I thought it was quite relevant. The abomination of Obama's presidency and the corresponding lack of opposition from the GOP is entirely responsible for his popularity.

I don't know about your last point but in full agreement with your bold lines above.   To his own admission, Trump has "exaggerated" on some things.   All politicians do that routinely but Trump is in the news b/c he takes it to a whole new level.

That's redundant.

There's a vast difference between Democratic Socialism and Marxist-Leninist Socialism. And Bernie Sanders may be branded a "Socialist", but he's far from a "true" socialist.

Like Denmark vs China.   Denmark touts themselves as the happiest place on earth.

I'd rather go with Bernie than Trump who is likely turn US into a fascist country if he had the power to do so.

Can't say I'm shocked you won't vote for Trump, you really haven't hid your distaste for him here.  I'll take Trump over Bernie or Hillary, I just hope the GOP gives me a better person to vote for.  I can't take another 4 years of "democratic socialism".

    • Back in my Army days a "gooch" was a particular part of the anatomy. Example, say Okeechobee is the b-hole of Florida, then Belle Glade would be the gooch. Seems he wears his name well.
    • I can't say that I remember a lot of individual putts, but I do have one specific memory.  The first time I played the Old Course, I had hit a pretty good drive on the 6th hole.  I had about 60 yards left, and due to the swale in front of the green, there was no chance of flying a wedge on or near the green and having it stop on the green.  My caddie recommended either a running 7-iron chip or a putt, and I took the putter and a pretty hard swing.  The ball rolled over humps and through hollows, disappeared into the swale in front of the green, and re-appeared heading right at the hole.  I ended up maybe 12 feet away.  The caddie turned and held out his hand to shake mine, and said "Now THAT was a golf shot!"
    • For the first time since 2021, I made a 3 on the 12th at Stoneleigh.    395 yards, something like 80 feet uphill, I hit a solid drive and a 7-wood to inside a foot.  Even I couldn't miss that one.  I feel like I haven't played a lot of golf this year, but I'm making decent progress.
