Hi all been practicing hard and striking ball lovely off the centre of face lots of compression, I've just played tonight took my seven iron out to sort of lay up and crushed it 199 yards with slight high draw didn't think I could hit my five iron that far never mind my 7 but hey not complaining! Anyone else hit there clubs like this? I landed my five iron 220 on a par 3 too which I think is quite good

Nice.

Must've felt good. Although, I can't imagine laying up then accidentally carrying whatever obstacle was being laid up to. . .

Yeah felt amazing I was behind a bunch of trees to my left so couldn't see green and was a par five on my second shot so thought I would just hit comfortable 7 iron back onto fair way but I caught sweet with draw and ended up hitting a 60 degree wedge to green for my 3rd shot well happy

lol...... its always nice when you hit one of those huge shots, that just surprise yourself......

usually it happens when you are not actually trying to do it.....

i've done it a few times with my irons.....   usually it happens with my 3 wood, on a long par 5, and i smoke the ball 250+  lol

It is what it is

During this time of the year the ball will fly a mile in this heat and humidity.  I have hit a few 7 irons over 200 yards before, but it was about as perfect of a shot as I could ever hit.  Not many things better in life than hitting a golf ball flush.

Actually my clubs are traveling about the same distance, for me a 7iron carries about 165yards, don't have the feeling i should hit them further.

It's not all about distance you know, consistancy is  way more important. I would hate it if my 7iron would go 160 and than 199.

Me too. That would be scary.

I did something similar earlier this year, 6 iron went 228. There was a decent wind though, maybe 10 mph and it was a flier lie. Definitely an outlier by a large margin.

KICK THE FLIP!!

I accidentally hit my 7I 215 yards once. I was playing for a slight jumper from 180 (normally 167 or so is my 7I distance)… and the ball missed the green by a significant distance.

Flier lies can happen…

I hit a 160-something PW once in a similar situation.  (Its supposed to go 135) Rolled onto the next tee and the old guys were furious because it was the second time that day - I bombed a drive a few holes earlier that also caught two cart path bounces and rolled past them.  They yelled at me.  I apologized. :surrender:

Wow! you guys are good. My 4 iron is my 200yd club, lol.

Same here (total distance for me), but the "flier lie" takes a lot of spin off the shot so their shorter clubs go farther.

    • So no joke, last evening post work nine must have been the craziest side I've ever played: Bogey, double, double, par, birdie, birdie, birdie, double, birdie. Two gimme birdies, one 15 footer and one bonus bomb from prolly 35 feet on no. 9. Full disclosure, it's a super easy course when greens are running at an 8 with easy welcoming pins. Still, a couple of firsts there. Driver freed me up starting the fourth hole. Anyway, driver notes: 1) anti left left hand grip. 2) no structural bind on hands/grip. 3) left shoulder HAS to get up to chin with humerus completely detached from chest and shoulder socket (feel) Big game tomorrow, aiming to break 80.
