Hi guys my name is DIEGO MASCARENO and I am from Leon Mexico, I play golf in a amazing course called EL BOSQUE COUNTRY CLUB, there is a WEB TOUR TOURNAMENT played here every year, I recently played a round and made 22 putts, and my friends tell me it's as rare as a hole in one. What do you think?

Pretty sure I've come close to 22 putts. Shame they were all on the same green...

I think it was 24 I was striking ball poorly and greens very small missed the green many times I had 12 easy chips to within 5 feet to the hole and made everyone of them. I putted one in off the green and three putted once. The green were really flat and slow except for three contour ones so it wasn't a hard course for putting

I think it's pretty good being there is only 18 holes! Did you putt 22 times, if so that terrific and world class. I usually have more than that :~(

Played yesterday and had 27 putts. The least I've taken should be around 24 or 25 but I don't really remember.

Not sure if I'm reading this correctly, but Jordan Speech's average (YTD) is 1.693, which puts him at taking (on average) 30.4 putts per 18 holes?

So I would have thought 22 putts, average of 1.23, is incredible.

Putting is one of the many areas that I am working on right now. 22 putts in a round sounds like a dream. Congrats.

Only a wild ass guess... My guess a hole in one would be rarer than 22 putts.  I play a 9 hole course often and I've had 11 putts for 9 holes.

My best for 18, not sure... but two weeks ago I played 18 and had 26 putts.  I do know that round was my best round ever at 10 over (an easy course though, par 58, rating/slope 55.2/99)

So what do you guys think it's harder a hole in one ir a 22 putt round?

Given that you could manipulate a round and have 18 putts, obviously a hole in one.

22 putts usually equates to iron shots missing the green, not good putting, put decent chipping and putting to close to the hole from off the green.

If you had 22 putts and shot 14 under par, that's different.

Agree. I had 27 putts on Monday, but a few were one putts because I missed the green and had to scramble. Last Thursday I had 14 for 9 holes. I shot a 40 and had a chip in. So my putting stats were really skewed by the lack of GIR.

This reminds me of an old friend, Dennis Gilboy., When we played in our league years ago he had the uncanny knack of winning the low putts competition just about every week. I don't know if he ever finished with 22 putts but he was almost always in the 20's. The guy wasn't that great a putter but he was good with his wedges from around the green and we are pretty sure he tried to miss the green on approach shots so as not to leave himself a long putt. Still today, guys that I play with who knew Dennis, refer to any approach shot that ends up on or near the fringe as a "Gilboy" Low, low, putts per round says more about your chipping than it does your putting. Just compare GIR with putts per round. In my own stats when one is up the other is up, and vice versa.

I agree with you I had 2 holeouts and several one putts after chipping them

    • Very interesting stuff. My one thought that popped out at me is about Scottie Scheffler and the molded grip 7 iron. I would think the chance that it's one of the random ones you can buy from PGA Tour superstore or what have you is very unlikely. I would be astounded if that wasn't done custom for his exact grip, putting it rather out of reach of most of us. The thing about the foam rolling was very interesting. It's not something I've ever done before a lesson at the venue. If I'm feeling stiff or sore, I might do something with a foam roller at home, although even that is unlikely.
    • Well, I am not surprised since the departure of Koepka and Reed.  Also Mickelson taking hiatus from golf hasn't helped any - albeit he is not much of a needle mover these days. Surprising is LIV hasn't offered any contract extension to Bryson as he seems to be the only marquee player they have at the moment.  Oh wait there is Dustin, Sergio, and ???  But these two guys haven't been doing much lately anyway.
    • Day 7, April 15.   I was so excited about the pelvis turn drills that I didn't work on the hip rotation drill from my latest Skillest lesson (oops!).  I worked on that today, using a cereal box.  I also continued to do some pelvis turn drills, in part because I'm doing some of it with all practice balls hit, and I wanted to hit some balls this morning too.
    • I was hoping to find an image of my Edel Putter in my swing thread here. I found the video of the 1st tee shot at Moon Valley from 2015.  Whooo man, that backswing, 🤣 Man, I had faster hips and more mobile hips back then. I could get the hips open prior to impact.
