The Barclays will be played at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, N.J. The course, which also hosted the Barclays in 2011, will play as a par-70 measuring 7,012 yards for the 2015 event.

The top-125 players on the FedExCup points list qualified for the first leg of the FedExCup Playoffs, with 2,000 points on the line for the winner. After this week’s playoff event, the top 100 on the FedExCup points list will continue onto the Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston.

Quietly has put together a banner year. All the Englishman, who tied for third on a Donald Ross gem last week, needs is a win.

I’ve been out of starts for Spieth for weeks, but I’m where I want to be. With supercharged points, I’m throwing the kitchen sink at Helen.

Two wins in his last three starts, also posted a top-15 finish at Plainfield during the 2011 edition of The Barclays.

Has finished no worse than sixth in his past four starts, and was sixth the last time The Barclays visited Plainfield.

He's got seven top 10s this season and is coming off a third-place finish. Casey is a fantastic ball-striker and is in form, both of which should mesh well at a classic venue.

Hard to believe he's won only once this year. Of his last 18 rounds, 16 have been in the 60s

Nothing but consistency this summer from one of the TOUR's most solid all-around players. Let's see more of the same this week.

Flying off the radar a bit, but solid 26th in FedExCup. Knows how to win this time of year. Finished 2nd at Plainfield in 2011.

Has been close so many times, can hit it a mile. I think the rookie breaks through this week.

Is Rory not playing due to his ankle injury or was this a planned week off knowing he had enough points?

Not sure, he just announced he wouldn't be playing last week. The ankle seemed fine at the PGA.

BTW, If Spieth doesn't finish 14th or better R ory returns to #1.

The comments on that article... yikes.

Would be fun to see Rory and Jordan flip the no. 1 spot week after week.

There's seriously no way to watch any of the morning coverage the first few days?

Thanks. It says it's not compatible with my android though. The PGA is terrible.

Dustin Johnson shot 19-under for 54 holes the last time this tournament was held at Plainfield. Based on what I've watched so far today, I doubt anyone will come within ten strokes to par of DJ's winning score in a full four rounds.

Problem for Spieth is motivation. After the run in the majors, this tournament doesn't have a lot of bearing. Still gonna be in prime position no matter what he does the next couple events.

If that's his attitude, he's going to have trouble going forward. Grinding it out even when you don't want to or have it is a hallmark of the best.

Hmm, wonder why Rory is not grinding it out?

It still tells me that it isn't allowed in my country...I'm in the U.S....I don't know. Thank you very much though.

Yeah something tells me this has nothing to do with it. I think the golf course just ate him up today. It happens. I don' think for a second it has anything to do with motivation. It's just golf.

    • @jxdama: Same dumb schtick since joining. Yup. Also, it's a par-73.
    • Day 97 - 2025-01-05 Showed up to something that absolutely floored me, and then was busy right through to 9:00. So, I got 5:00 in at night, at home, before bed. My rib cage hurts from a cough (ha ha, but also, f***), and I think I have a mild ear infection in my right ear. Things are just f***ing great.
    • OMG Jerry Barber shot -20 back in 1960! Let's go back and time and bitch about how easy it is to play golf. My goodness, Calvin Pete shot a -21 in 1986! Wait a second, David Duval shot -26 back in 1999! Hold up, Ernie Els shot a -31 back in 2003!!!!  (all scores at The Sentry, it is a very easy golf course for PGA Tour players).  The concept that golf in the past is this protecting par or what not is just romanticized BS. Golfer's have been tearing apart golf courses for decades. Let's have a sense of perspective to base our opinions, ok?
    • I wont  comment further except to say maybe we  can get a  -40 winner soon on these tests  of golf  skill     Hideki Matsuyama runs away with The Sentry, breaks scoring record to open new PGA Tour season Hideki Matsuyama picked up his 11th PGA career win on Sunday afternoon in Hawaii.
    • Day 4 - Had aspirations for range work but a family activity went a lot longer than expected. So 6 minutes of mirror work, feeling good about weight shift back and transition forward.
