You can see bits of his current swing even though he's making the compensations a 12 yo would to get distance.

amazing ... proves my point that like any sport, golf at the elite level requires a very high level of natural talent, far beyond what most mere mortals possess.    Amazing looking swing for a 12 yo...

It seems the vast majority of folks that get to an expert level at something like golf... The vast majority have already become really, really good at a young age.

As an aside, I have an interest in playing music, and this is also true with music.  Maybe even more so.

As a fellow musician - totally agree.     I could practice, I'm talking dedicated practice for 8 hours a day for years & never approach what Yngwie Malmsteen or Paul Gilbert have been able to accomplish on guitar.    For elite musicians, I think their nervous system must in some way be wired differently than the rest of us - they do things that seem impossible ... or maybe, they all just make a certain kind of deal at "the crossroads"

It's no secret that most pros were prodigies, and had great swings at a young age, Day is no different.

It's also no secret that it's far easier to learn to swing correctly at a young age, older people spend years learning what a 12 YO could do in a few weeks.

im wondering if some of the differences i see up there could be due to him swinging a longer driver than what would have fit him.  A2-3 are different but A4-7 look a lot like Jason now.

Followed him during Arnie's practice round and not a soul was around that day - fans were following McIlroy instead.   Couldn't believe it.  Guess Day will get the packed galleries now - everyone loves a winner.

At 12 yrs old, the club was bigger and heavier, so his takeaway looped inside, then when he reached the top he dropped it into the slot. It's still an effective swing without an OTT move. I'll bet it was the same with all his clubs. They're heavy to a kid. It's a kid's swing. Snead, Palmer, and Jones had similar under plane takeaways. Eventually they school it out with modern teaching. Today with more strength he can take the club away on plane and drop it into the slot on the downswing.
