100 balls twice a week plus chipping & putting if I have time. Also, 1-2 rounds on the course per week. I try to work on one specific thing each time at the range, while rotating through all the clubs as well.

45 balls - focus on one thing i.e. driver & fairway woods OR mid-irons OR short irons

20 balls - rotate through other clubs

35 balls - "play 9 holes" - drive, iron, wedge... drive, iron, wedge...

Routine: work, eat, golf, sleep, repeat

Clubs: (All Used TaylorMade) Burner Superfast Driver, JetSpeed 3&5 FW, Rescue Hybrid, Burner 2.0 Irons 5-AW, ATV Wedge 56*, White Ghost blade putter

Many years ago when we lived in Florida I always paid a yearly fee for the range and would hit 400/500 balls 2/3 days a week and play 2/3 days...I'd make a day of it plus have some putting games for a few bucks after lunch with some of us that get together there...

Now I'm down to med buckets [ 65 balls] when I'm working on something..my body wouldn't take long range sessions any more...I spend far more time on the short game chipping/pitching and putting...

I have been hitting crab apples which are a wee bit smaller than a golf ball in my yard for practice. My whole yard is nothing but divots any more thanks to my golf addiction

Who on earth is hitting 3 or more buckets at the range everytime? I usually hit a large but 70%-80% is to 125 yards or less and probably about 40% is around 50 yards, I just laugh at these maniacs who will pound out a large bucket with a driver only... they never learn a thing and probably will be sore when they wake up next morning.

I plan on hitting a bucket tomorrow with only my driver. It will be a small bucket of course.

I answered 3 because thats about what i hit before i injured my back. (Not every day sometimes just 2) Been out for 2 weeks now with upper back injury. Im new to the game and i didnt know when to stop. And since thats how many buckets i get per day with my range membership i tried to use them all. Obviously it was a mistake. Whenever im able to get back to swinging i plan to keep it at 1 bucket per session.

Please base your vote on practice sessions (not on warming up before a round of golf).  I should have specified that in the question.

I answered one small bucket or less before I read this because I hit a small bucket to warm up before a round. Honestly I can't think of the last time I practiced on a range. I just practice on my net at home. I hit about 15 or 20 balls in 45 minutes.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
