Another good yogiism was "Cut that pizza into 4 slices. Im not hungry enough to eat 6". My family is big into baseball and it was passed down to me. I love hearing my grandpa talk about the old players. RIP Yogi

I'll just add something from the perspective of was born in NY and lived there until 1980. Yogi was one of the most beloved figures in NY over that time period.  I just barely caught the end of his playing career, but I've read a lot about his prowess as a player.  He was renowned as a junk ball hitter.  He could take a pitch that would have been ball 4 and drill it over the left-fielders head for a double.  Pitchers intentionally waling him had to be careful because I believe that at least on one occasion he inched closer to the player and drilled on the other intentional balls over the wall for a HR.

In a way while his Yogi-isms are great, it is too bad that he is remembered primarily for that and not for his ability, because he was a hell of a player.  And while he did not have the same level of success as a manager, he was a great institution of the NY scene (although I'm pretty sure he actually lived in NJ)..

But then again, what the hell do I know?

He's a guy from well before my time, but he always carried himself well, devoted himself to great causes, and had universal love from the people who knew him. Sad to lose him.

Agree with the sentiments here. I visited family just outside NY city a lot growing up, and my grandfather was a lifelong Yankees fan. Yogi was so much more than just a sum of the quotes we use to pay him tribute now, no doubt.  But as aphorisms go, his usually betrayed a somewhat keen insight into human nature. Far from the simpleton that some might think, based on some of those quotes, Yogi was quite an impressive man.

    • It’s been a while since I’ve seen the word “golf” and the phrase “moment of truth” collide in the same sentence.
    • I used to have a 21 degree Ping 7 wood, but it spun a lot and tended to come up short if there was any headwind or quartering wind.  Replaced it with a 20* Adams Idea Pro Tour Prototype.  Great hybrid and there are still some out there on eBay for decent prices (I think Langer still bags two of them).
    • Wins the week before and files for divorce the same week. I’m not putting money on Rory.
    • Partial to the Golf Pride CP2 Pro.  Softer than a Tour Velvet and pretty durable (I play 5 times a week and they last a year or more with no issues).
    • Tiger Wood's Driver Clinic Got this on Twitter. Which then I found the video above.  Tiger asking Rory to hit that control cut. Rory talks a bit about how he likes to stand taller, so he doesn't feel like he can shallow it with the body. Tiger puts it in his words, staying on top of the ball. Which I presume for Tiger his feel for a cut. Even the PGA Tour players have their own ways to achieve similar shots and describe it with their own swing thoughts (feels). Good insight in how PGA Tour player's develop swing feels to produce the shot they want. Could be something as simple as a posture change.
