Played Musgrove Mill today (72.3/155). Shot +11 over 16 holes. Two holes are being repaired due to damage from Hurricane Helene, and one has been converted to a Par 3.

Drove the ball great but only hit 6/16 greens. Hit 9/11 fairways, and only one was bad when i missed the 11th fairway wide right.

Several of the misses were long as I overshot several greens. Picked up a few yards with some weight shift drills and golf-specific training. Parred 4/5 par threes and all three par fives.

Shot an 85. Started with a birdie, felt great, then hit a damn tree on the next hole and ended up behind the tee box. Somehow bogeyed it.

Best part? Chipped in from 30 yards for par on 12. Worst part? Three-putted right after. Classic golf

2/23/25 Musgrove Mill Oak tees 72.3/155

Joined this club this year, and have played several times this year. Yesterday, the greens were the first day open since aeration. I struggled to hold greens, and putted as one would expect on aerated greens. For the first time in a while, my tee game was off and only hit 6 fairways when I have been averaging around 70%. Only 15 holes were open as they repair three holes damaged by Hurricane Helene.

I assume you are posting 15 or 16 holes and letting the USGA algorithm insert projected scores for the missing holes. How is that going? Are the projected scores reasonable? I have yet to do this.

Seems to be working fine. They might be giving me too much credit, given my level of play!

Played Musgrove Mill today and they have lost 2.5 holes to Hurricane Helene. Course is 72.5/155 for the full 18. Played 15 normal holes and a converted par 3.

The bad: I have been working on start lines with my putting and doing really well. On aerated greens I putted terribly today. Multiple three putts and a four putt!

The good: I used to hit a lot of approach shots pin high, but not much lately. Today, I hit 8/15 pin high after changing my right foot angle!

The great: Hit all tee balls today where I intended. Hit every fairway and all the par 3s. The only par 3 green I missed I chased it all the way to the back of the green and it rolled 1” over on a 185-yard shot.

Just had a club event and played 5 nine hole matches. Shot 39-36-37-35-40. Just a really good weekend of golf even though the last 9 was a struggle to swing the club the last 5 holes. The highlight was a turkey to cap off a match for a tie.

Rough round at Musgrove Mill after a good round last week. Adjusted score of 98since we only played 15 official holes due to three being damaged in Hurricane Helene. Very windy today and my swing stance change last week turned a straight ball into a hook today. Actually scored worse on par 3s than par 4s. On 9, I was above the hole with the wind behind me. Tapped the 23’ putt and it rolled off the green and into a hazard. First time that has ever happened to me! Rough round!

Big week of Golf nursing golfing elbow ....played local amazing course Arrowtown tuesday ..had a tidy 81 for what I felt wasn't my best Golf in some wet windy conditions found the greens tough to read and gave away many shots... three birdies

Played my local GC wed STB mens comp... very rough whole game not happy 89 just felt tired made so many mistakes max 4-holes I played well the rest rubbish to woeful ...

Friday played south of my local Alexandra in a 4ball with my mates (we have a comp same partners over the year) played pretty well after not even hitting my 3wood past the ladies tee on the 1st hole ...very slow greens to what I usually played so we made gimmes within 2ft ,,,, couple birdies ..

Wasn't going play ..but wife wasn't stressed so joined into the SAT Medal comp ..teed off early .. had some brilliant holes and shots some of my best .. birdied 3x ..78 for the day gave me a 7th in SNR division. putting let me down had a 4x putt on 3rd hole PAR3 ... along with 6+ three putts ... what could have been

Now looking over the above I'm sure many thinking go sort ya putting ya idot .. but couple weeks previously I played three comps .. out of those three I only had one 3x putt my best 24 putts over a round  ... but my driver off the tee was rubbish ..

44/36/80 - I figured things out half way thru the round. Too late for a good score but enough to provide me with some hope for the near future.

Played Musgrove Mill today. 72.3/155. +9 for 15 official holes as 2 holes are closed, and the par 5 16th plays as a converted par 3. We played the first three holes over to finish 18, and parred 1 and2 amped bogeyed 3.

The good: hit every fairway. 1 less than normal for the converted par 3, but the second time I have done that this year. My sand wedge approach on 10 after a monster drive hit the pin in the back left corner hit he pin and spun away to 9’, and I missed the putt.

The great: hit 8 GIR and 7 were inside 10’.

Needs work: Missed every birdie putt. No lip-outs. Just struggled on fast greens. Three-putted the par-5 9th with the pin on the back tier and jut missed hitting my approach to the proper level and it spun all the way to the front of the green.

I had some great moments today, but some garbage as well.

Today was my first swing of any club this years.  Hit the range and simply pounded all but 1 shot on target with reasonable distance for me.

first hold wax aboar 5.  I crushed my drive and 3-hybrid and was 6” off the front in too.  Putting was lackluster and I got par

2nd hole par 4 intoning regulation but left my birdie putt 2 “ short,

shells then fell off and finished the front 9 with a crappy 57.

Back 9 was better with nothing worse than bogey on all holes until #16 when I took a 10 on a par 4. 🤬.  Finished ok and shot 51 on back 9.

108 is garbage but there were a lot of good shots so I have hope.

I was frustrated that I ghought my Shot Scope was charged, it was not

Just had a fantastic day of golf this morning. Played a local 72 par course that is somewhat challenging, not super hard but not easy. I had never been able to shoot anything better than a 96 on it. And hole 15 really gets to my head, literally every single time I get to hole 15 I mess up something terrible and end up with nothing better than a triple bogey or I just pick up my ball and walk to the next hole. Today I shot an 86, par'ed the 15th and had a total of 8 pars today. +9 on the front nine and and +5 on the back nine. Most of the pars were made with some very fortunate 1 putts. Overall felt great!

Played Saturday and Sunday, both courses I had played just once before - Mangawhai and Waipu. A pair of 82s on fairly easy and short tracks. A lot of solid golf, but five DBs over 36 holes is enough to ruin a fairly clean card. PW and in needs work, especially on soft/damp turf.

Circumstances led me to being off golf for almost a year.  Finally played a tournament two weeks ago, without touching the clubs and having to use my old set which had been passed down to dad.  Shot in the 90's with multiple bad holes.  Another tournament today and decided to play.  Much better round.  3 triples, 7 bogeys and 8 pars.  Two of those triples were courtesy of an OB and one was thanks to bad shots.  But overall much happier than 2 weeks ago.  Even managed to get runner-up in open stableford.  If those three triples had all been bogeys would even have been in contention for the open

75 today on a 72.6/129. 6650 yards.

First round of the year for me. Wasn't hitting many greens but I think I may have putted the best I ever have. Hit 6-7 10 footers to save par on a few holes.

Have a tournament on Monday at a different course so was good to get out and play once.
