Shot 75 today in junior club championship qualifying. (Par 70.) Was 3 over after 9 with a couple of silly bogeys on 1, 2 and 7. Greens were hollow tined yesterday so the ball was jumping around all over the place!!! Then bogeyed 12 but followed it up with a much needed birdie on the par 4 13th. Made a great up and down on the 206yrd par 3 16th for par to stay at 3 over par, but then bogeyed 17 and 18 to finish 5 over. Even though the finish was disappointing I still had the best qualifying score which means I am on the top of the draw for knock out section. Hoping for the best!!!!

shot an even par 36 today in our hs match. finally got medalist . hit 3 fairways, 8 greens, and had 17 putts. if it wasnt for a stupid double on a 110 yard par 3, i wouldve had something really good going.

Wednesday night we were paired up against the team that fails to count many of their strokes. I was giving him 10 and my wife was giving her 9. We got there late, so they had already teed off on number one and were on the 1st green when we arrived. I counted 8 strokes that he failed to mention on his card from 2-8. I was so disgusted that I didn't even care what he did on number 9. He shot a 50 (should have been 60+)to my 39 so I still beat him by 1. My wife recovered from a quadruple bogey 7 on the shortest hole on the course to shoot her best round ever of 46. She won by 18 gross and 9 net.

I used to think that he waited to see what I had before giving his score. Then I realized that he was actually waiting for my wife to give her score then basing his on that.

shot an 80 at cambridge Golf Club in Evansville Indiana. I had never played there so I didn't think it was too bad for my first time on the course

67 at my home course, The Architect's Club, par 71. Five birdies, one bogie. One penalty stroke - dumped it into a greenside creek on a par 5, dropped out, pitched on and made bogie. Shot 81 two days earlier. You never know when the Force will be with you.

Shot a 97 today, lots of GIR for me but I missed a lot of short putts, everything missing right edge. Last rounds 92,105,117,125,113,97 so it looks like i'm getting used to the new irons, and the lesson paid off. Great news is it didn't pull my handicap much.

Played the same nine holes twice...shot a 43 the first time around, and a 38 the second time. This is the first time I have broken 40! I needed a par on the ninth hole (a 470 yard par 5 with a sharp dogleg left). I wiped my tee shot through some trees and into the next fairway then took an 8 iron over the trees to leave myself 200 yds. from light rough. I hit the best 4 iron shot of my life, 2 feet from the pin for an easy birdie!

I shot 78 today for our club championship qualifier. I birdied two out of the last three to get under 80 and get the in the top divison. :) I played with a guy who wasn't playing a qualifier, and he shot 80 which would have put him the top seed in his division.

In the money game this morning with the better group of golfers, I shot an awful 93. Hit 4 tee shots OB and put 3 in the water. I looked like I just started playing. Then this afternoon, a buddy called and we went back to the same course and I shot 80. My game the last couple of weeks has been pretty consistent, then suddenly This!!!

Played the back 9 yesterday. Started with 6 straight bogeys. Some good (recovered from an unplayable on 12). Some bad.

Made par on 16, doubled 17 and bogeyed 18 for a 9 over 44. To be honest, that is about what I deserved. I hit a lot of decent shots, but I could not finish and I left myself in bad spots on a few occasions.

Didn't play today... got rained out. Yahoo!!! We have been in a terrible drought and heatwave for a couple of months. Finally, we got a frog-drowner this afternoon... I'm playing tomorrow afternoon after my stress test.

Just finished the north course with a 99, 6 GIR, 8 Fairways, 40 putts, and about 8 lost balls. Started out par bogie par though I'd have a good one, and then I caught the group in front of me and waited for the next 7 holes.

Wow, you must have been really upset about missing your round to need a stress test.

Good luck with the test.

After posting one OK round and one bad round in our club championship, I played Greensboro National yesterday (site of the final round of this year's Newport Cup).

From the blues (7,000+):

71
10 of 14 Fairways
14 of 18 Greens
31 Putts

I haven't struck the ball that well in a long time. After the bad rounds I decided to simplify a couple things and go back to my old pre-shot routine. Every shot was crisp and had a nice draw to it. I stuffed two 6 irons within 3 feet on a couple par 3's. Oh, and I 3-putted 3 times. I could have easily been around 66 if I didn't have a few brain farts on the green.

Just when I was about to put the clubs away for a couple weeks... Golf can be funny that way.

Fairways and Greens.

Thanks for the good wishes... The stress test is a semi-annual thing since they put the stent in my heart about 18 months ago.

The test came out great. Doc says I'll live at least overnight if I don't step in front of a bus this afternoon. As to my round, I shot 82. Just a routine round. No big numbers, just not a lot of good up and downs to keep me under 80.

Shot a 36 today. Just played a quick nine before ladies night. Had one birdie and one bogey. We have our club championship coming up, which is match play, so I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing...

    • Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong).
    • Day 17: did mirror work while watching TV. Working on wrist feels.
    • Day 315 - 2025-08-12 Got a little work in before Juniors showed up for one of their Summer Sessions.
    • I always knew it as high but never that distance was 90-95% of rating! That has always played to my advantage. I never have but I could totally vanity cap myself by playing **super** long courses that are otherwise super easy. There was one course like that in LA that I used to play that helped my cap like that. The back tees were close to 7k yards, but otherwise the course was incredibly easy. Wide open, misses almost always had a play at the green from the adjacent hole, flat greens, not challenging green complexes, etc. But it got a high rating because it was so long. So I could swing hard, spray and pray, and score well (relative to my handicap).
    • Do need a special ferrul. Thanx 😉
