After beeing more or less idle for the last four years (think I've had about 2x18 in that period) I've finally gotten around to some poor attempts at golf again. My first round was a 112.

Enjoyed it a lot and my goal for the season is getting below 20.

85 on a course rated 72.5/139 (6831 Yd). That is about 10 over for the course handicap. Had 4 birdies, with a couple of eagle putts just lipping out. But also had 4 penalty strokes due to lousy swing & bad bounce--the worst combination one can have on a golf course.

Struck the ball pretty decently. Overall, I would say a pretty good round. Especially hitting the green on two on the 18th (542 yd par 5) with all the grounds keeper watching and waiting for us to hit on. Just lipped out the eagle putt and had to settle for a birdie

I played 18 holes this past Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; nine holes on Monday. I didn't keep score but did a good job of hacking up the course. I get off the tee very well, short game and is ok, but my mid-irons and fairway wood is terrible.

Played the front 9 at Arizona National from the blues (very nice course). Wasn't feeling so hot (which is why I left after 9 holes), but course was gorgeous and the greens were smooth. I shot 6 over, with 2 doubles and 2 birdies thrown in. My ballstriking has been terribly inconisistent since I got sick a few weeks ago, and it's the number one thing I need to work on now. Driving strait and accurate off the tee, and then I hit nice, clean, clever pitch and chip shots near the green. It's the second and third shots from the fairway that are wrecking me lately, and it's the biggest problem I've had in a while. I feel like I'm swaying and taking my head out early-either way the dreaded skull/blade shot or aggressive wormburner have found their way back into my arsenal on occassion, and I want them gone.

41 last night. Easily left 4 or 5 strokes on the course, but won the match even though I was giving my opponent 9 strokes.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
