Shot 91 at a par 73 course. Fairways were overgrown and the greens were aerated. Had one 4-putt and a quite a few 3-putts. Couldn't buy a putt today.

77 with an eagle on a par 5. two on and one putt. putt was only 7 feet too. not to many mistakes with the driver. 3 wood was crazy good. but my short game was a little off today.

84 today in first club outing. Was hitting the ball well, but couldn't get into rhythm putting on aerated greens. Only hit 4 FW's, but majority of misses were only off by a few yards. 4 GIR, 34 putts.

Started off strong parring the first 4 holes, then just lost touch on the bumpy greens. Oh well, not too bad I guess.

Played a couple of rounds so here they are.

Par 70, shot a 81.  Drove the ball terrible, only hit four greens but got up and down 7 times.  One big number.  Putter was working great.  29 putts, no three putts.  Probably the best round I've played in a while.

Par 71, shot a 91.  Iron play terrible.  I mean horrid.  hit 1 green, lots of putts.  Just off.

Need to work on driving the ball and iron play.

First two rounds of the year this weekend. Hit the ball terrible on Saturday and shot a 76. Hit the ball great on Sunday and shot an 83. Sure is a funny game.

Played Saturday and Sunday.

Shot 79 Saturday and that was quite possibly the best I have ever hit the ball. Felt like I couldnt hit it bad if I tried to.

Shot 83 Sunday and it wasnt a pretty 83. It was one that felt like it was a 95. Thank goodness for a decent short game.

105 today on the second round of the season, getting close to my goal of breaking 100.  It would have been really close but I blew 6 shots trying to get out of two bunkers, looks like I need to practice getting out of them.

First time breaking par! Played 9 holes and shot 35. It's not that hard of a course, but still nice to break par. Two birdies one bogey. The only bogey i had was a 3 putt on the first hole... easily could have been a 34. Guess that's what keeps us coming back.

86 on a par 71 course. Had my career low score of 84 here last fall so I feel comfortable playing there. Left scores out there, though, was constantly battling a push of the tee. Not fun.

72 on a par 62.  Only my second round of the season and I'm still shaking off the cobwebs.  I also learned that Bridgestone E6 Yellows aren't for me.  I need my chips and pitches around the green and they just don't have enough spin for my taste.  At least they were free!

So today me and some buddies went and played Belle Terre in Laplace, LA. Let's just say that the quote "the better the course the better you play" is very true. The course was terrible. Whenever you hit the green you could see the sand fly up. Dont think it should be like that on Sunday. Tho of the 14 holes where you need your driver I only hit 1 drive that went is the rough.

    • Same here. Seems quite a few of my fundamentals had strayed and Erik had to get me back on track. It was kind of surprising how bad I had gotten off.
    • I would like to point out I was not complaining about hot summers;  rather, I enjoy them.  It's the coming cold cold winter I'm about to face that worries me.
    • From late 2022 until a few months ago, I barely played (maybe two dozen rounds, total, and only four rounds in 2024).  I had my first lesson in ages (Skillest, with Erik) and grip was part of it -- mine really did get into a bad spot, and I had to (and still have to) practice the new one.  It still feels odd, but that's a good thing when adjusting (otherwise I'm probably doing the previous).   I'm going back into the office for the first time since then and I'm tempted to take a small section of pipe, keep it in a desk drawer, and periodically take it out to practice my grip.
    • Great episode on GAPs. I agree 100%, this needs to be consistent. It is something you have complete control over to a high level of repeatability and precision. It is such low hanging fruit as well.  My own tendencies.  Grip - Can get too strong. I tend to not get much grip with my left pinky, and the grip can feel like it slips more into the palm. I mess around with grip size and tap wraps. I wonder if I need to get away from a big taper.  Stance - Use to be too far right. I noticed, for the first time ever, I was aiming too far left on the course last week. It was like 5-10 yards left of the target, not 20-30 yards right. Overcorrection. 🤣 It is getting better.  Posture - Way better now that I stretch and work on mobility. I could tell years ago that if I tried to keep my knees less bent, get more on the balls of my feet, I felt a stretch in my calves and hamstrings. Now, I don't, and it helps. I think people might avoid that stretch feeling because it might feel unnatural. I used to be head up as well, looking too much down the bridge of my nose. I still can catch myself doing that, especially on shorter irons. I think I have average ankle mobility. I do have to use elevated heels when I squat at the gym, or I tend to fall over forward.  I agree, if you are not practicing this then you can become lax. For about the entire first half of this season, I was just waltzing up to the ball without aiming. I still catch myself being lazing. I have to step back and actually aim. I think adding this into your practice sessions is easy. Just do it before ever rep at the range. Just make it a conscious effort on the course.  For the tee shot, the only time you can kind of use an alignment aid (other divot or maybe something is lying on the ground). I tend to use that to help me aim. I try to imagine a straight line that I align my body to.
