What'd You Shoot Today?

42.. took 2 penalty strokes b/c of poor tee shots and had to chip out of the woods once. Only had 12 putts though and got up and down 5/6 times which is good

Started Par-Bogey-Par-Birdie-TRIPLE. You should have seen that Triple. The tee-shot was this perfectly struck 260 yard uphill 5-wood draw to the ideal 10 foot circle in the fairway, followed by a not-so-great but manageable pitch to 12 feet pin-low, followed by a slight tap that would have run the ball 1-foot past the hole on any sensibly cut hole-location which ran off the front edge, off the green, and down the fairway. I zipped a pitch back a foot and ended up running it back off the green again. I lost my cool, attempted to chip it up the slope, stopped at the fringe, chipped to 3-feet, and two-putted. Everyone was watching to see how awesome my short game was after that incredible tee-shot. They left after the first putt I finished the round +7.

shot a 78 yesterday at Pasadena Country Club. it was so hot and humid it was ridiculous. i played pretty good though except for one blow up hole (a triple).

45 - 54.

I knew my back was tightening up on the ninth and should have quit. However, it was a beautiful afternoon and I was paired up with a very good player and learning a lot.

Went to the college course today and shot a 92. My driving was insanely good (10/14 fairways when i usually hit like 6 or 7.) but my chipping was very weak and I had 39 putts. Still I played pretty well for walking in some legitimate heat and humidity for the first time this year.

80....38/42. Disappointing but OK. Hour and a half rain delay after ten holes. Never got on track after that. Oh well. It was golf.

82 - 43/39. Played the back nine only as there was league play at my course. Had first tee time after the last leagure 4-some. Play was slow so I played two balls per hole. Par is 35 on the back.

First nine I shot 38, one double bogey and two bogeys and two birdies.

Last nine I shot 34, three birdies and one bogey.

Was an all-around okay round except for that double bogey.

i played yesterday. sucked. nice course. not so nice game. 93. finished triple, triple. i was catching EVERYTHING chunky. luckily my putter saved me with some longer putts, and i had a lucky pitch in.

74 at Whispering Woods . BOMBED drives off 12 and 15 and reached them with 6I and 4I. Second shots of both play a good bit uphill and the holes measure 512 and 533.

Back nine had three pars, three bogeys, and three birdies. Front nine had several 10 footers made for par.

They're demoing a roller that I think they'll keep, so the greens on the front were PERFECT (I passed the roller at the 11th hole).

Slow 9 this afternoon... 40 (+5). Four pars, five bogeys. Three fairways and four greens hit. Only managed to get up and down once. Ugh!

Ball striking was really crisp today. Enough better than usual that I was consistently about 1/2 club longer than I was expecting with my irons. Really good yet really frustrating at the same time.

Had a tournament today and shot 79. I tied for second. Wasn't a very fun round though. Just pars and bogies.

82 tonight from the tips (72.5/131)...hit the ball pretty good, not great, but good enough. Putted much better than I have been. Overall, a very very solid day. Didn't make any huge numbers, which I was very happy with.

Took my oldest niece (7) out today to play. She actually wanted to play 18 but I only kept track of score for the front nine. I only hit one fairway =/, 3 GIRS and 18 putts for a 37. I did get one birdie and about 2.5 feet away from my first ace.

    • Yes. I believe in using the same ball all of the time, including chipping and putting practice. I use the orange Callaway Supersoft.  Only $25 per dozen, and sometimes on sale for $20.
    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
    • I don't think you can snag lpga.golf without the actual LPGA having a reasonable claim to it. You can find a ton of articles of things like this, but basically: 5 Domain Name Battles of the Early Web At the dawn of the world wide web, early adopters were scooping up domain names like crazy. Which led to quite a few battles over everything from MTV.com You could buy it, though, and hope the LPGA will give you a thousand bucks for it, or tickets to an event, or something like that. It'd certainly be cheaper than suing you to get it back, even though they'd likely win. As for whether women and golfers can learn that ".golf" is a valid domain, I think that's up to you knowing your audience. My daughter has natalie.golf and I have erik.golf.
    • That's a great spring/summer of trips! I'll be in Pinehurst in March, playing Pinehurst No. 2, No. 10, Tobacco Road, and The Cradle.
