Shingo didn't have his black cowboy hat on either so there could have been some kind of pre-game alter-ego emotional trauma stuff going on....could be some kind of Samurai thing as well  ....or he could  be just showing off...it's hard to say.....let's check how he played.

Saw him doing this at the 2001 Masters (I think it was 2001) on the practice tee.  Anyway, same thing minus the tall tee. Hammering the driver left handed with his caddy putting balls down and he was just steady thumping them. Then he turned around and started hitting right handed. Pretty amazing.


My guess is that he does this therapeutically. One sided sports have a tendency to cause muscular/joint imbalances. Working the body in the other direction keeps everything nice and loose. OTOH I feel like I'm going to hurt something when I try to swing lefty.:-(
