The Duo used to be 40 . I guess Wilson wasn't too happy when Callaway one up'd them with a 38 compression ball and is now returning the favor.

If they go any lower, they will feel like smacking a marshmallow not to mention a loss in distance.

They should be great for spinning a sand wedge shot......

IMO the Duo is soft, but a different kind of soft. You can tell from the sound of a well struck shot. The Wilson has a 'clack' sound, while a ProV is more like 'whup'. I think the difference is the cover. And the Duo holds fairly well,  but nothing beats the holding power of any of the top urethane balls from any of the mainstream manufacturers. On iron shots from 160 and in that gives me more confidence to not be tentative with my swing.

Areoburner Pros have been that type of ball for me. they are a good 50/50 multi piece ball in my opinion.

I know technically it's not the softest but the ProV1X feel the softest to me, I used the duos and they felt great for putting but anything else was actually forcing me to lose distance.

Plus I get the ProV1X's for 20$ a dozen refurbished so it's a win/win.

Honestly, I've played the Supersofts and the Duos. I preferred the older Hex Chromes over them. And last year I played the Callaway Chrome Softs. They're 65 compression which is higher than the others, but.... I like the last with the added control around the green. They come off my mid and short irons with more spin to land softer on the greens.

From just a "feel" persoective, its the callaway supersoft. As of late 2015, nothing else comess close. Duo is soft too but even with similar compression the supersoft just owns soft.

    • Day 5 - 2024-10-05 Hit some somewhat soft pitching wedges. The outside and inside, particularly the outside of the left thumb where my right hand goes on it, is still pretty sore. I don't think I'll do more damage, but I'm reluctant to do too much because I don't want to compensate or alter my motion.
    • Day 156 (05 Sep 24) - Played new to me course today, it’s near our beach place and have been wanting to play it for a couple of years now.  It’s a neat Par 70 that plays just over 6k from the tips, played the whites 5,500 +/-.  Tight fairways and severely undulating greens made for some great shot strategy.  Wound up with an even 80 that included two lost ball penalties.  Putter was solid - 28 total.  Wedge play kept the pars happening - 6 of the 9 pars were up and downs.  Not bad for the first time on a new course.
