I've kept hole by hole stats for many years and I'd say the above is pretty accurate based on my personal experience as my game has evolved over the years.

Yea I remember that round well. I had a "career" day on ballstriking (like that one day I was sinking putts from everywhere). Hit my drives long and straight. Two of those birdies came from putts inside 4'.

Even if we dismiss this particular round as an outlier, I'm still 0.2 birdies per round, way above the expected average.

Same home course, same tee stat for the last 3 years:

2016 = 95.29 strokes & 0.18 birdies per round.   

2015 = 98.27 strokes & 0.10 birdies per round

2014 = 99.83 strokes & 0.15 birdies per round

 

Better birdie stat than the chart but I have a relatively better putting skill than average 90+ stroke player.

I make 13% birdies. In one round, that's 2.34.

I don't make a lot of birdies, but I manage to avoid making very many bogeys and definitely don't make many double bogeys.

My Game Golf average score is 98.5 and I average 0.4 birdies per round.  

It seems that I tend to go on runs where I'll make birdies and then runs where I won't make anything.

This seems fairly accurate, I usually get between 1-2 per round with the occasional 3 and even 4 birdie round, if I could putt a little better I'm beyond positive my hdcp would be 2 points lower and of course the birdies would be double too.

It's going to vary somewhat depending on the course. Higher skill on shorter / easier course = higher birdie % and vice versa. I had a chart done up by average score which is relatable to HCP for a 'typical course'. Ask @Lihu if he still has it. I'll see if I can find my copy.

I looked for it, but didn't find it in my inbox. I think attachments might have been lost when we went to this new site system. Sorry about that. . .

I will say that Game Golf seems to track everything pretty well. Although my birdie percentage is only 4%. Possibly because of my terrible short game, or just my terrible overall game.

Your percentage seems in the right range.

Caveat that these charts are relative to a long-term average and approximate - individual games do vary (steady players vs. long-hitting but erratic). Amounts are in # per round you'll have to convert for %.

To me that's the key to getting good I shoot 3 when I'm playing and sometimes one or none makes sense.

Yesterday's round included 1 birdie and 3 pars.  Carded 87.  Think I only had 2, (maybe 3) doubles as well.

My take on the initial chart posted is that ratio of birdies to actual score might be UNDERstated.

If I have 1 birdie, I'm breaking 90.  If I had 3 birdies in a round I'd maybe card 80-82.  No WAY 3 birdies on my card would result in a 71.  Ever!

I just took a look at my last 15 tournament rounds. I was averaging 3.46 birdies per round. Average score should be between +1 and +2.

 

The results are pretty accurate with what I had on my mind ...  I am making more birdies than a lot of players, but I also make a lot more bogies ... For this year, I am really determined to use a better course management :D

Most rounds I have one birdie.  Yesterday was two.  I have a tendency to turn a lot of birdies into pars.

The "Score" reflects one's average score over an extended period of time, say a year or so.  If you averaged 3 birdies a round for a year, you just might shoot "71" now and again.

29 birdies in 23 rounds (1.26 per round). Average score over those rounds is 77.93. That seems about right, maybe slightly lower than average birdies for the average total score.

If you are including non-competition rounds then my average is almost exactly 2 birdies per round.

I would say if you averaged 3 birdies a round over a year, you would shoot 71 or better quite often. A lot of those rounds will have 4 or 5 birdies and a few with 6.
