Hello,

Recently i played at the golf course, i have the motore speeder tour spec 7.2 X paired with the sldr 430 9 deg and it was a bomb. I just recently purchased that shaft.

Once at the tee box, i was gonna hit up the driver, i swung so hard and i fell back. Cos i wanna hit damn far. The club head hit the ground and made a divot. It wasnt downward strike. It was a upward strike at a wrong bottom before the ball. Then i topped the ball.

For the second time, at the driving range after the golf course. I went to practice my clubs until the driver. I was getting great drives then until one drive i whacked so fast then i fell back as in lost control, it hit the mat and skimmed. I saw metalic flashes under the driver head. Same story as very upward strike.

It has been done twice and i hope not to do it again in the future. I am worried about the shaft, Will it break or snap? I do not want to spend more money for a new shaft again.

Thankssss

It should be ok. I would just take a look at it near the hosel with a magnifying glass. If there was an issue, you would see cracks appearing.

I had a look at the shaft under the light and the sunlight too. I inspected every single area of the shaft. it seems smooth to touch and i dont know about the internal one. do cracks appear on the internal wall?

You will never know if there are cracks internally. Just because you don't want to buy a new shaft, how is this going to change the situation? Are you going to quit using it so you don't break it? Kind of a bizarre post.

Only on a golf forum can you have the title "paranoid about my shaft" with no issues...

the he shaft is fine they're essentially the same shaft as the fairways so they can hit the ground without damaging the shaft. The Sparks come from the speed of the driver and the friction.

Haha but honestly when i did, it looks like a big one that comes to my paranoid level to ask questions about it.

When i hover the driver above the grass, that was ok.

Swing efficiently and in control...

not hard.

From the description, you are out of sequence and out of balance.

Probably not good to swing at high speeds into the ground ... just sayin'.

yeah haha my stance has more of a reverse k when i swing in control i am fine. Just something else threw off my mechanics, maybe i just forgot to clear my hips or something. I never hit downwards as in more of an extreme out to in. Its more like upwards in to out path and my club head caught in the wrong bottom before the ball haha.

Sequencing ... bottom to top on downswing ... feet, legs-hips, shoulders, hands.

Proper sequencing gets rid of a lot of maladies. Now if you can get the feel for each sequence..

Only surpised  a 14 dare swing a SLDR 430. Understand wanting low spin with high speed, but you can also setup for low spin with some axis tilt, and hitting up on the ball. Good luck!

isnt the reverse k already have some axis tilt on my shoulders which would be hitting up the ball? maybe the mistake was i had excessive axis tilt during the downswing.

I know a 14 or more is crazy because i am not good with my irons.

is the driver shaft is basically made for the driver and fairway woods or the weight should be different? < stupid question...

Think the description of a reverse K at setup threw me off. Axis tilt good, sometimes it is how you gave yourself the axis tilt that affects other parts of the swing. Maybe you are hitting ground because you tilt too much on the downswing without much of a shift towards the front. It's tough to know without vid. You might also want to tee the ball up and off of the front big toe. There are threads on these topics (here).

They're different weights but some people play with driver shafts in woods(Rickie)

so basically the shaft weight becomes heavier and stronger ranging from a driver to fairway woods? even tipping as well too?

do stronger stiffer shaft are less prone to crack/snap/weaken?

Driver shaft plays more flexible because it is longer. A fairway would will typically have a shaft that is equal to or heavier than the driver. But I imagine you are seriously overestimating your strength if you think you're going to snap it from normal use. The most common cause of breaking (other than frustration) is hitting the ball off the hosel which can snap the shaft where it inserts.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
