The U.S. Open is my favorite tournament of the year, That trailer however, did not give me even the slightest chill.

For all of Fox's hype about how their golf coverage was going to be a game-changer, last year's Open was the worst-produced broadcast of a major tournament I have ever seen. I hope they do a better job this year.

To be frank, the re-animated corpse of Jim McKay would be an upgrade over any of their on-air hosts.

I thought it was a good commercial.  Showed the history and some of the intensity... the bit about "72 holes and it comes down to one putt..."  that was good.   That said, I hope Fox's coverage is better and they show more golf.  They probably won't (show more golf) but I can deam.

At least this year's Open will be at a traditional venue, hallowed Oakmont! However, Oakmont is going to look different, they've cut down most of the trees! Apparently they took the Pinehurst #2 route and returned to their roots in that there were very few trees on the course when it was built. Let the rough and the traps do the damage.

I, too, had problems with Fox's telecast last year. It's not like they're a major player in golf broadcasting, and they fell far short of CBS or NBC. This year will tell if they learned anything from last year. I sincerely hope so.

The trees were all gone back in 2007.

Oops! Yes, you're right!

The last time I was there in person was at the 1994 Open in that baking heat! It was nice to have a few trees around to find some shade!
