I've been Playing Golf for: 9 total( 6years very regular, now last 3 years just only one tournament a year :(  )
My current handicap index or average score is: I shoot early 90's. Best of 86.
My typical ball flight is: High, usually get a gentle draw
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Flaring my driver far right, swing too fast with my arms.

I used to golf every weekend for about 6 years and was addicted to golf. Now, last few years, its been only one month of practice for a scramble tournament, super excited after tourney, deciding to playing regularly. Only to realize the next time i get to play is when its the next years tourney! :(

Love the game, stopped watching and following as I feel bad that i'm not playing regularly!

Its time for this year's tourney, so started hitting the range.

I'm 5' 11". 10 finger grip. Swing is very vertical. I feel i'm losing power as there is some body turn that can be optimized.

I hit 8Iron 155yards. Swing speed tools clock club head speed of driver at ~105.

Problem is with GIR, accuracy to the pin with approaches and keeping Driver in control (sometimes it gets flared well right).

Any tips on improving the swing is very much appreciated.

Not a bad swing man! I think a face on would be helpful for future reference. Big thing that sticks out to me is you do appear to be coming up out of your posture quite a bit.

You can see your hands have come off plane. Not the biggest deal with a PW, but it's problematic for hitting consecutively good drives/longer approaches.

The angle you provided isn't perfect, but I think it's safe to say you need to slide your hips, and work on some hip rotation to remedy this. Doing so will help to create the space you need on the downswing. Don't keep your head down. Do get your weight forward.

Here is a gold mine. There you will find tips/drills for weight forward, and much more.

Thank you very much for the inputs and the link to the Vids.

I have been working on the hip rotation and weight transfer, been a little rough so far.

I have taken couple of Vids from front on. Please review and any inputs/drills would be highly appreciated.

Realized about the wrist roll/release and it seems to have fixed my slice! Seems to have added 10 yards to the distance as well.

Please review and critique...

I've been Playing Golf for: 12+ years
My current handicap index or average score is: 13
My typical ball flight is: Draw
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Driver push/fade

Issue: Struggling to get control/confidence the driver. Not consistent

Good drives can go 270-300, but only 3/10 are like that. Looking for help from community to hear about tips/experiences that can help this swing.

Also, requesting details of issues you faced before getting confident/getting-control of the Driver.

Thanks for your time.

Damn, that's some crazy long limbs you got, gonna be smashing the ball a country mile once you get body working better. Not expert on this subject, but you seem to be stuck with your weight on both legs/making the move from your rear leg instead of shifting fully to front leg and then swinging the club.

If I were you, I'd probably go to this drill first, because it puts you on your front leg and gives you a feeling what it should be like:

hi im no pro but i play off 6 .all id say is i personally think its all taught wrong  we should be stopping our body rotation as much as possible . people are taught to use the body rotaion for power but this is not good for accuracy .im a believer its the hands and arms that create the power and the body is a stabeliser for that . look at a ferris wheel the body is the ferris wheel support and the pods are the arms and hands try that

Every PGA Tour player ever has a good amount of rotation.

Hello,

Update for 2021. Its been a little over a year since my last post. Spent a lot of time during lock downs in analyzing/reading/practicing/playing and have improved (i think). HCP is now 11.

Was able to break 80's on three occasions (in wide open golf course only) and am hopeful for more.

Please share any thoughts you have on the below swing. 8 Iron.

I am not qualified to give advice, but from my perspective, you have a very nice swing. Backswing all the way to follow through 'seem' great. Nice!

We generally like to see paired swing videos: face on and down the line.

Notice the angle of your trail arm with the club shaft compared to the pro’s.  There are plenty better people here to comment on this but I thought I’d show you a comparison.

That’s a lot of lean - too much really - from the Tour player. It’s also before impact while his is after.

Alexander Levi. Here’s just after impact. But yeah…he’s got a lot of lean.1428E3FB-1C53-48C8-81CD-A71DFF4B3C42.thumb.jpeg.40ce9b6290e828f874e83f78c248ba9b.jpeg

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
