Does any play or played in the past these Ping iblades? I was wondering how they play? I'm thinking about getting either the iblades or i200's. Currently play i25's.

I never have played a PING iron... (I hit a few shots with an old PING Eye 2 wedge). I imagine these are for a player maybe my handicap or lower or in that area.

I did demo these when I got my CBX Blades. They were okay... Obviously, a cast blade, but still cool. I wish PING would just do a forged blade... but I doubt it would happen.

What intrigues you about the iBlades? I had a chance to test the PW on course and ity feel great, though not as buttery soft as my mizuno. It was a PW so not much chance for me to really notice the forgiveness.

I liked the way they looked and set up. I used to play Mizuno blades too but I had using forged blades in AZ because the desert is so rough on that soft steel. The solution to that is not hit it in the desert but i can't seem to get that down. I love PING customer service and free adjustments and they hold up well in the desert. I am trying to decide between iblades and i200s.

Here is mark crossfield on the two:

Ultimately I would recommend the iBlades from personal experience but i200 offer great forgiveness.

A good choice is a combo set of i200 4-7 then I blade 8-PW.  Going a step further ...a G400 4 iron.

The Ie-1 and i200 are very similar in performance.  I prefer the look of the i200, but u can save some money grabbing ie-1's.  Just saw a set at my place for $499 with new MCC grips and modus 105 stiff shafts.

I'm going with a set of these in May. I have hit them and they feel fantastic. I have played forged blades for the last 10-15 years and I cannot feel much a difference between these and my Callaways. I can work them both ways and they look like a blade at setup.

You'll notice as you hit them more. They're great clubs, and they're what I just took on my trip to Atlanta, but they're not blades.

Yeah, there's really no way to completely get the feel of a forged blade in a cast head. They are also a bit more forgiving. As I approach the age of 50 in a few years, these are my first step towards club head that won't beat up my hands so bad. I would like to be able to still hold a club at 60. ;-)

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
