Hit a bunch of shots into the net working on key 1 and key 4 ideas.  I am fairly close to grooving it all in and then I can go back to key 2 again.

Mirror work at the gym before my workout. Too hot to go to the range for an effective session.

Halfswing drills via evolvr lesson with a full 'smash' swing every 5th swing in the garage.   Did 4 rounds of 10 while on a conference call.

My halfswing backswing puts me into an ideal spot so coach wants me to just work on adding power from that point and not going back to a whacked out backswing.

Simple stuff today, Spent some time checking hip turn/pivot in mirror before and after a few minutes of the "wall drill". Also practiced some short putts.

Placed a coaster on the carpet, and hit putts from five feet away until I hit the coaster 50 times. The few times I missed were to the right.

I did some SK1, 2, and 3 work with my 4-wood and 3-hybrid this morning. I was trying to focus on a point directly in front of the ball and not change my peripheral vision... as far as inline impact, that's getting better with practice slowly. The tough one for me is weight forward. So I've been doing a couple "squish the bug" drills. That's the one that gives me the most trouble... With my Driver clubhead speed I should be hitting it 270 not 250.

7/26 - went to course for pitching/chipping. After working ALOT on that pitching motion as taught on the "Quickie Pitching Video," things are shaping up nicely. Still working on distance control with it as it's different than my previous motion, but I believe the change will eventually yield improvements

20-30 minutes with my lob wedge out front today. Slow-mo backswings, working on keeping the sway out of my swing. After a few practice backswings, I'd clear my thoughts and hit a full shot just focusing on the ball. Took a break in the middle and did a couple minutes of mirror work to watch my hip turn. I can feel my right hip stretching but I still don't end up with a great tilt at the top. Went back outside for a few more rounds of the same and called it an evening.

The pain in my ribs doesn't appear to be going away soon, so I did more two-pace putts at a coaster on the floor. I lost track of how many putts in a row hit the target, but it was at least 30.

Making big improvements but they're slowing now.   I don't really feel like my swing is radically different from week to week anymore.  One thing I really must learn to do is keep my wrists loose.  My swing now generates a lot more force than it did before . .and, without a glove, I managed to give myself a big blister in less than 5 swings because I was gripping too tight.  By the time I realized it - blister had formed and now I'm going to have to take it easy tomorrow.  Boo.

About 5 swings into the net which definitely took less than 5 minutes.  But nursing my blister took another few minutes and the realization of where it came from pushed me over the 5 minute mark.

I'm rather impressed with myself, lol.  I've started to put my broken/cut golf balls into a bucket near my mat. I'm up to 6 now since April.  I'm making a completely different move than before - it would not have been possible to give myself a huge blister with so few swings even a few months ago.

Chipping and pitching has been my glaring weakness so I worked on technique today for about 20 minutes. I'm trying to get the feeling of slight acceleration in the through swing.

Exactly 1 month until the Ithaca City Championship... Trying to get my weaknesses ironed out before the big tourney (at least for me)... I'd like to be 1st flight this year.... if I can get rid of my doubles or worse... I probably can.

Putting practice today. About 10-15 minutes practicing 4-6 foot straight putts, and then another 10 minutes putting from various locations around the hole.

Practiced pitching in the backyard while grilling dinner. Getting comfortable with keeping the ball further back in the stance even when trying to hit the ball in the air.

7/28 - back to full swing grind with focus yet again on grip, stance, take away, head still, low point control, in-line impact, and forward weight shift. Becoming second nature at this point. Really happy with the results of this challenge.

Worked on chipping motion for about 10 minutes this morning. I tried chipping with the ball slightly forward in my stance, while having a descending blow.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
