Started with the normal routine this evening, but a bit late again and it was already getting dark. Slow swings focusing on a good hip turn and pivot. Felt like my head was moving around so I finished with a few minutes focusing on that.

Got the putting cup I ordered from Amazon (below). Putted to it for 15 minutes.

Basically, you have to leave the orange piece in or it's too easy.

Did 10 minutes in the garage hitting into the net. Tonight I focused on rounding my upper back and looking directly at the ball during my setup and rotating around my spine in the swing.

Played 18 today and shot a 102. Did okay but had too many blow-up holes. The work on putting from 6 feet and in showed, had four- chip & 1-putts, but I also 3-putted on four of the greens I hit, so those cancelled each other out for an even 36 putts. I had ten 5's in the first 13 holes... I've been asking for consistency, so there's that, at least. :-P

Got my 5 in early this morning. Practiced setting up and rounding my upper back looking directly at the ball. Made slow motion swings turning around my spine. Hoping to play this afternoon.

9/10- I cut my grass, aerated, seeded & fertilized my yard today all to work on my walking endurance. Then came inside and had a beer while watching college football to work on remaining calm & focused while emotions run high with adversity.

Lastly, I worked on my low point control with pitching swing x 20 mins in back yard

9/10 - played in the Missouri area outing today.  My game kinda fell apart but my putting that I have been working on seemed to be better.  Really was working on my distances

9/10/2016:

Happened to re-read the Finding the Ball post earlier today and spent about 20 minutes this evening hitting easy shots while concentrating on just that, finding the ball, nothing much else. Using an old 8-iron blade I have (thought was this would really help me feel and see mishits), I hit 10 or so off of a 3" tee, hit 10 or so by setting up two balls, addressing the outer one and hitting the inner one, and finally hit 20 or so with normal set up, just nice and easy and trying to focus on great contact.

9/10 - Putted for five minutes downstairs. Green (carpet) is flattening out.

Then I handed out multiple slow play warnings at the U.S. Women's Mid-Am.

Played 18 today to see if practice is paying off on course. I lost my driver a few times (OB). Direction with irons is much improved. Forgot my Game Golf unfortunately.

9/11/2016:

Played 36 today, shot 104 (55/49) and 91 (44/47).

The plan for the day was to play safer, lay-up, try and make good swings without overthinking it (too much), and just focus on the ball. The first nine blew up on me early, but the back went much better except for a 10 on one hole.

My second round was wonderful. Still hit some bad shots, but played smart, made some crucial putts, and got lucky a few times. Ended up being my best round to date on this course (from the "regular" tees :-D).

    • Day 33 (20 Feb 26) - played the Friday men’s group shootout.  Solid day of working from some tough shot results - made for a good number of up and downs for par (8 of the 9 pars were such). Cart mate and I discussed the visual aspect of the game - and how much it plays into the individual’s mindset during the round.  Love when the discussion is focused on learning and taking positives away and not just how bad the miss may be.
    • Day 507 - 2026-02-20 Got some backswing work in on GEARS Hybrid.
    • Still kinda working on the backswing stuff. I can turn < 45°, but I tend to tilt toward the target a little. I can tilt away from the target, but I tend to turn a bit more. Case in point. I can do it, though: This I can do all day (it's more lateral than I want, but it's very linear): Here's what 38° of turn looks like. Almost freaking nothing.
    • Good progress. I am finally feeling like I am settling my weight into my right foot earlier in the backswing. Right hip sinks back, right leg feels staying flexed. Feeling very stable and firm in the right leg. I feel like I could do a good squat with that right leg. Very balanced.
    • oops, forgot Pebble Beach and Spyglass.  And two more of the original Open rota, Prestwick and Musselburgh (with hickory shafted rentals).  And Muirfield.  And maybe a few more, I'll check my list when I get home.
