I had 2 of those in 1 round, once!
I was playing alone so no can verify,
I also saw bigfoot run from the woods OB across the fairway!

Not sure if you are joking about this, but http://wtop.com/golf/2015/06/va-golfer-shoots-3-holes-in-one-in-single-round/

He got the 2 then an "insignificant" ace on a par 3. . .

I think this score is still being disputed even though he had witnesses. :-D

It's probably my own bias and that of my father who taught me the terms, but I think of a hole in one when speaking of a par 3.  A one on a par 4 or 2 on a par 5 is so rare that it is worthy of the unique term "albatross".  Either way, I have never had the opportunity to say I scored either one.

Clearly, it's both.

It is also rare enough that you'd never describe it as (only) either one.

If someone asked "Have you ever had a hole in one?", you'd never say "Yes" without adding "and it was on a Par 4." Same with the albatross.

I'm not sure I agree with that. If I made a hole in one on a par 4 and someone asked me if I have ever made a HiO I definitely would say and it was on a par 4 hole. That is big, much tougher than on a par 3 for sure.

Agree that technically both terms are correct but hole in one without qualifying it's a par 4 feels like it's downplaying the accomplishment.

I would never lie about my golf score or the seeing Bigfoot!!!!

As for the 3 holes in 1:
289 par 4 is feasible
As is 187 par 3.
But the article could have explained how a guy who hits a 5 iron on a 187 yard par 3, hit an ace on a 334 yard par 4.

Not saying I think he did the feat or not, but it's possible to do what you noted. 187 yards for a 5i where you want no roll does correspond to something like a 110mph driver swing speed. Wind at his back? Downhill? Roll on hard pan? Possible, but I'd give it very low odds. . .
