Nah. Ive seen trees bigger than that on golf courses. But the scale in photo is a bit of a optical illusion. The tree is closer, the player is further back, making him look smaller in comparison.

I cropped the photo. Here's the whole thing.

I believe you, its just I was looking at the growth at the base of the tree seemed quite tall, but as you pointed out, the depth of field can be deceptive.

Maybe, but now that he's posted the whole photo, there's a tree further away from him that looks huge, too.

Yes, Sequoia/Redwood. One of the courses I play is lined with them. It is a comparatively old course by West Coast standards (1923). Everyone from out of state always comments on the trees. We are used to them.

This kind of tree gives a very generous kick out... But sometimes, balls go up there and never come down.

Does the "Trees are 90% air" rule still apply? lol

Oh yeah, still a big tree. Theres this weird 5 course in puerto rico that has a old ceiba tree on it. The base of that thing had to be 3 times as wide as the tree in the photo. Kinda unreal looking.

that's not particularly large for a sequoia. They can get much bigger.
