1/17/21 - PP: straighter right elbow

Secondary thought: initiate DS with Left hip

I definitely FELT my left hip engage earlier, but not sure the picture changed much.

Impact position from yesterday:

1/18/21 - trying to initiate DS with left hip

I think a touch better than yesterday, but not much. Gonna try to get some drills for this.

1/18/21  - found a little drill to help sync my hips & Arms. Trying to bring right elbow to right hip after little left lateral hip bump. Not sure if this is the right thing for me to be working on, but my swing feels faster.

And I think there is less Over-the-top with it

@iacas, @billchao, I’m fairly ignorant about the golf swing, but I am aware of the single plane swing and a two plane swing. With my current set up (hands pressed forward...more like an impact position) and recommendations so far to extend the right elbow straighter (as opposed to flexing it up) are those more in line with the single plane swing and if so, should I avoid advice on my swing that is geared towards a two plane swing? I don’t know enough to know the difference and I don’t want to screw myself up.
I am happy to be the Stupid Monkey, but sometimes my desire to improve on parts of my swing (as a lot of parts need attention) leads to more problems than good.

It's not a single-plane swing or a two-plane swing. It's not related to those.

Good golfers rarely over-bend their trail elbow.

Try not to move onto the next piece until you feel confident you have the current piece set. You’ve made a lot of progress and you want to keep that. You can dabble a bit, but keep the focus.

I do the drill you we doing above. One thing it would add is to get your hands deeper into your thigh (more toward target) when the shaft is parallel to the ground, A6. Basically, more wrist hinge. And do it slower. I tend to rush and it took a long time for me to slow things down. Even now, I can speed up and not notice until I see the film.

1/24/21 - Good: went to course and did some chipping and putting.  Once on the putting greens, I continued to work on my pendulums. Not all my groupings were as good, but this was from 50ft. One was in the cup:

I also realize that we don’t get 9 putts at a hole when playing, but I’m encouraged by the consistency of my putting pendulum and rhythm leading to increased reproducibility of my putts.

Bad: my putting inside 10ft was somewhere around 30-40%. I need to work on my Bead

1/25/21 - I have lost all confidence in my swing after hitting today. I feel like Kevin Costner in Tin Cup where I’m over thinking everything and can’t get through a swing with less than 4 different thoughts going through my head and contact sucks.

I need to get back to just my PP as previously stated by @boogielicious  😩

Jon, you seem to be battling hot and cold swing spells  like I am. I shot 38-48 yesterday. Hit all fairways on front and none on back nine. Was completely flummoxed. Thanks to my irons and a sudden blessing of the wedge fairy I managed a few saves.  Of course only driving back home did I realize I had stopped turning I trying to get wide with just arms.

So, just an observation, but should your A4 have that little hip and shoulder turn back? Your hands have reached up to the sky but shoulder not so much. Shoulder pitch (tilt) seems super flat. I hope I am not projecting my pattern on you but worth a thought.

Check out Day 2 of COVID practice.

Keep things in perspective, man. It’s just golf. Sometimes a little break is a good thing.

I was kidding. I’m not that fickle...most days. But yeah, as you know, it’s not fun all the time when you feel like you can’t make contact

Is this more what I should look like at the top? Or is this too laid off?

I almost think that’s the opposite of what I was working on with taking the club back and up....but Erik did say (many moons ago) that I’d need to start taking it “in” at some some point (back, up, & in) so maybe that’s what he was referring to?
