5/16: Walked 9 after work. Starting to warm up quite a bit down here. The mild winter we had this year definitely spoiled me. Normally, I can't wait for summer, but I'm dreading it this year. :~(  I digress...

Shot a 44. Started off with an easy birdie -- Driver, 3W to pin-high just off the green, perfect pitch shot, sank the putt. Couldn't help but think, "this might be the day". But it wasn't. Four-putted on the next hole for a double. :-P

Driver was working great, though. A few more screw-ups with my irons than I cared for, but swing felt good otherwise.

5/16:  Kept it light today...
5 mins. wall drill w/club, super-slo-mo swings; focus on transition, then hips pulling club through
5 mins. slow swings w/Momentus; focus on keeping clubhead from getting outside plane, then pulling shaft down (butt tracing arc on ground) and lead through
20 mins. pitching & chipping work to target; focus on tempo.  Contact was frequently out towards toe, so worked on clubhead control and extension

30 min Sklz, 7i and driver

stop at top, pump, step thru and full swings

took it very slow and it was very, very hard to keep form and rhythm. Kept losing it before I could finish a set and would have to start all over again

15 min chipping

increased distance

2/11 on first go, so redid first round and did 4/11

on the third round, started to click with 7/11

still not sure if I am generating a consistant swing. Feels like a lot of arms

Wife may go to visit sister on Friday, which would mean golf on Saturday AND Sunday!

5/17:  10 mins. warmup session w/OW & Momentus
60 mins. range session; worked all clubs and shots; focus on tempo & trying to feel a little more loose, but had a hard time

Woke up with a serious crick in my neck and between my shoulder blades.  Something I did last night?  Very tight and in pain all day.  Figured I could loosen up, and thought I would be okay, but a range session today was pretty much a waste of time.  A locked up back/neck is a no-go.  Hit some nice shots every once in a while, but felt very tight and had trouble w/consistent contact, direction, etc.

5/18/17:

Yesterday I played 18 holes and shot 90. My best friend and I did some video of the round, so I could see what was going on. While watching the videos the main thing I noticed, was the "step through" I get sometimes from swinging too hard and not maintaining my shoulder pitch. So I did the "shoulder pitch with driveway sticks" drill for a bit this morning. I'm going to continue to work on this. One note: for whatever reason when I take a shorter backswing, even to 10:30 I don't "step through" so much. This might explain my problems with full wedges.

5/18:  Still very stiff and sore, so just did what I could--pitching and short game work

20 mins. split between chipping and pitching (w/ball and wedge) in yard, to target; focused on keeping my path from getting too shallow and inside, and using body, then arms, and mostly inactive hands (on pitches at least).

Random chipping in the yard playing with different trajectories. I didn't work on the hips today. Spent probably 40 minutes on chipping

5/18: 5 minutes of wall drill and played a round on E6 with the fam, using the tittleX and the included lightweight swing-stick (with swing setting set to beginner so everything went straight ;-)).

May 18th:- 7 Mins full swing practice. The feel that seems to be working for the A2 position is that the right hand takes the club head back low and moves into dorsiflexion at the same time.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image):
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
    • Day 12 - 2025-12-31 Limited time today, and heavy rains here. 5-10 minutes of mirror work for full swing, working on trail side.
    • Day 2, 12/31/25.  Similar to yesterday (rainy, no surprise), I hit primarily 6-iron full swings with the same focus;  I also hit some chips (about 1/8 swing) with the 54.  About two dozen full swings and an equal number of short shots.  All of this was indoors, off a mat, into a net, real balls.
