Noticed on my 7 and pw that there are some black marks on the back and face of the irons. Tried to clean this but couldn't get it off and no idea what it could be. It looks like boot polish but no idea how it got there. Any ideas or has anyone else had this on forged irons??

Almost looks like sharpie from marking your ball that's what happens to mine, but it's on the back too so there goes that theory.

It looks more like a spot where another iron rubbed against it or something.

Marks from the ferrule? Goof off might remove it.

He would have died instantly, lol

But I think you may be on the right track....

Wondering if the greenkeeper applied turf food or something.

I'm not sure what they use, but when our GK does our fairways, he spreads tiny black pellets.

They leave black marks on clubs that are a bitch to clean off.
