If you swing this thing about 10 times, then pick up your 8 iron, the 8 iron feels like nothing and feels like you're swing speed just doubled.

I'm sure that's one of those feel is nor real things.

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

I work part time in the golf department of a big sporting goods store....we sell them. I mess around with it when it gets slow and I think they would help to get warmed up before a round. You can also tell pretty quickly when someone is "casting" with one of those things. You do get feedback from it.

Casting is exactly what it helped me fix. I don't feel when I am doing it with a club but with the OW it's evident. I knew I was casting but standing on the range by myself was getting me nowhere. I also wasn't turning to complete follow through and it does that too. I don't think it's fool proof but what worked for me was remembering what it took to not cast the OW and apply it to a regular swing and I got better results.

I'm a HUGE advocate of the Orange Whip and carry mine in the bag with me pretty much full time (unless I'm walking the course because I don't need the extra weight).  I'll use it for about 15 minutes every night while watching TV in my living room and always start my warm up on the range with 15-20 swings.  Great at getting the 'feeling' of tempo and swing plane planted in my mind before I pick up an actual club.

Made my own. Sort of a cross between the Orange Whip and the Speed Stick. Great for tempo plus gives you audible feedback. If I ever get around to replacing camera batteries, I may post a short video if any interest.
