http://www.golfwrx.com/460214/how-your-dominant-eye-affects-your-golf-swing-and-the-proper-adjustments/

I stumbled upon this article.

The premise is that eye dominance has an influence on the golf swing that needs accounted for.

Quote

People who are “Left Eye Dominant” (the ones who sighted the object above using their left eye) must rotate their heads at address towards their rear shoulder and/or bend laterally to the right (for right-handed players) to allow the body to adjust for this dominance.

and

Quote

A player seeing the ball with their right eye, as in the example above, will require a much more centered spine at address and a head position that is more centered looking down at the top of the ball, not so much the back of the ball.

Though at first glance this seems to have some warrant. I do not think just citing Jack as the example cuts it. The article doesn't have enough data to support this claim. This concept is interesting, and maybe it needs more inspection before it should be given as advice. I am sure there are right eye dominant PGA Tour players who set up more like left eye dominant golfers as specified by this article and vice versa. As with a lot of things in the golf swing, unique characteristics do not necessarily need to be made into a general tips.

I read the same article.   I'm more confused than ever.  I tired the test they suggested to test eye dominance.   At a short distance (3 feet), I'm right eye dominant.   From 8 feet, I'm left eye dominant.   I've tried the test three times with the results the same each time.  I'm very near sighted and wear progressive bifocals.

My brother, back in the day was always harping about eye dominance when putting, for me,  I don't try to favor one eye or the other.

I don't think this has much merit. So long as you can see past your nose, both eyes are about the same distance from the ball.

I don't think that magic eye dominance secrets will do much.

If you can see the ball you're good for the most part imo.

Its an interesting subject often touched on but imo body dimensions have way more to do with a persons swing than eye dominance.

Imo another filler article for a site nothing more.

I am left eye dominant and for putting at some point I read this test where you setup and hold a ball on your dominant eye and let it drop on the ball you setup to.  I will withhold my drop result but it is interesting.  I just don't think it's true what the article claimed.

I remember reading about it as a factor for aiming in putting. I don't think it has as much of an effect in full swings because the swing is very dynamic and you need both eyes to focus for depth perception.

That being said, my wife doesn't see well out of one eye and she still makes good contact in the full swing. The human body is amazing at adapting.

It is a concern for me. I have what is called an "upper right hyper" or "lazy eye" and if over a putt, I will see double if my head is tilted in a certain way. I can actually control the separation between the twin balls I see by swiveling my head to the right. Not so much on full swings as it is simply a blur.

That doesn't really sound like an eye dominance issue… it sounds like another issue altogether.

I don't really know how much dominance comes into play. Perhaps we have an optometrist or doctor onboard that could comment.

I don't know if this really constitutes "eye dominance," but I started to putt better when I realized that square to my target looks to me about five degrees to the left. I trust the line more now and I make a more confident stroke with less pushes. I think I was subconsciously feeling like I had to push the ball because it always felt like I was aiming too far left.

I figured this out by just laying an alignment rod down directly at my target, and then addressing it several times in a row. Each time at address it felt like I was aimed too far left, but when I went back and stood behind the line again, it was dead on.

I didn't make any head adjustments or anything like what the article in the OP suggests; but once I became aware of the bias I had, I started to play better. It was just simply being aware of what my eyes perceive that made the positive difference in regards to eye dominance.

Using the alignment aid on the ball and trusting that I'm square despite feeling that it's too far left was an important find for me.

Precisely!  Gives me a good excuse. I am a good ball striker, is only a matter of selection.

I am nearly 100% right eye dominant. I actually struggle with depth perception and seeing stereoscopicly. I struggle to see 3D movies even with the glasses. At a young age I had to wear a patch over my right eye to strengthen the left eye.
