10/02 - centered turns with wall drill. Also used wall for steady head & maintaining bookend by swinging arms with head on the wall. X 5mins each

10/3 - same. I also worked on the same priority piece while hitting 8i into net tonight.

Appatently my post above from night didnt didn't go through.

10/04- changed it up a bit and tried worked on my centered turn and bookends while using  a 6i! It's important to mix things up to keep the romance alive

Got to the range. Tried to add a little more weight shift to the swing and it threw off my sequence completely. So, for now, I'm going to stick with my "basic" swing. Hit one towering 6i shot, but it faded. Well, I did say I just started to see improvement. So, more drills and more practice. . .

Did swing drills with SKLZ Gold Flex trainer for 10 minutes in the lobby by my office. Ceiling is 11 ft. high, and the glass panels serve as reflecting mirrors to watch the motions.

  1. Weight shift drills (horizontal baseball swings)
  2.  R arm only fold drills
  3. L arm only takeaway to A4
  4. Full swings w/ emphasis on good shoulder turn, hip kick and full followthrough/ stepthrough.

With Gold Flex I need proper stance and balance during swing, or I end up falling off to one side or another during followthrough.

Mirror images encouraging: getting left elbow higher than right elbow at top, and I'm not crossing the line - somewhat laid off.

Trying to add some more weight shift into my movement while using a mirror, but my body positions look kind of awkward. I'll keep trying, even though at some point I should just be content with the swing I've been ingraining.

Oct. 5

Had a "heavy bag" day at the range in prep for weekend tourney.

Started with contact drills, hit a few partial wedges, and then hit 7i and 5i. Need to make sure my hands are far enough ahead at set-up that I compress the ball properly. Also hit some 4i shots: a couple off deck flew well, but it's better as a driving iron off the tee. I have a 25 yard gap between 5i and 4H, so it will be useful off tee on midrange par 3s.

Went to long clubs: Hit several driver shots, including some fades. Again, I need to work the arms down and under on downswing. As with irons, I need to rotate shoulders back, and make sure I stop pre-over the line... (overswing error).

Takeaway: many of my pulled shots have elements of phantom chickenwing! The right arm engages too soon on downsling, coming around rather than working down and under. One trigger seems to be if I turn my hips (go spinny) rather than kick the hips forward. Also, I need to relax my right arm at setup - tension also triggers pulls.

Tomorrow I will have a short putting practice - especially lags, the tourney greens will be large. Don't like to hit full shots day before round, I want to give back and elbows a rest.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Starting to make some progress. Doing slow movements. Difficult because the balance is more emphasized with slower motions. Toppled a couple times, but getting better at it.

10/2: Just 5mins on transition to downswing and swallowing club. Exaggerated feel.

I hope you don't get an indigestion from swallowing a club.

My first read of that thread and/or topic, so perhaps I'll play next month...

I need to look at what my lead shoulder is doing. I'm hitting straight, but pulling it or pull-hooking the balls. Some drives were good, some were bad.

Lot's more work and tuning to do on my swing on the range. I'm going to lose bad this Sunday. :-P

Lead shoulder might be a bit open a bit as I think I observed in the mirror.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
