Big strategic mistake for Tiger, letting me hit his approach on #10.  Misses short.

But seriously, Tiger in the lead I missed this so much why did I allow myself to schedule meetings today?

The first day 5 birdies and 2 bogeys. The second day 3 birdies and one eagle on the front nine. It is fair to say that barring a few flubbed chips and a bit of a rusty short game, he is really striping the ball and will get even better than he is currently once he shakes off the rust in his short game. I can even see a major in his future IF he can keep up this level of play over an entire week at the tournaments

What's in the bag

  • Taylor Made r5 dual Draw 9.5* (stiff)
  • Cobra Baffler 4H (stiff)
  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)
  • Golden Bear LD5.0 60* (regular)
  • Aidia Z-009 Putter
  • Inesis Tour 900 golf ball

If he can keep up -5 for each 9 holes he plays, he's going to win more than one major...

I think the equipment change, esp the woods, has been great for him. He's loving that TaylorMade driver.

This is probably bad to admit, but given how "down" my golf watching has been lately, I'm really getting my first extended look at Justin Thomas right now. Can see how he won Player of the Year last year. Guy's got serious game.

I did watch the PGA of course, but since that was basically a US Open disguised as a PGA, his insane talent didn't really come through for me as it is right now on a course with fewer defenses, particularly with the wind being somewhat not a factor.

True, in that case he can set a record that nobody will ever beat in any sport. Currently Serena has what, 22 majors to her credit. But the big IF is all about him sustaining the play. The first day he had three birdies before he got his first bogey. Then there was another bogey in the back 9. That and the rusty short game are what scare me short term. Long term it all depends on his health. He seems to have his drive back though

His game looks rock solid to me. It really makes me wonder a couple of things. If this is how good he is after only six weeks of being able to swing a club again, how good can he be as he gets going again and the rust comes off completely. Has he really only been swinging for six weeks? If so it's really incredible. I was just hoping that he'd be able to get round the course and not look too bad. This is another level.

His chipping also looks pretty darn good today.
